2025 Suzuki Swift GLX LED Headlight issues

So it's really just a confusion in terms.

DRL's aren't dimming, they are switching from DRL to Parking lights.

You are literally visually impaired. Dimming means reduction in brightness. WTF is your problem? DRL's dim!!! There's countless evidence been posted by me and others, but you just choose to ignore. Your credibility is basically non existent at this point. It's a joke.

I've tried to dumb it down as much as possible for you.

My Volvo has 4 stages of emitting light at different levels;

DRL dimmed,
DRL Bright,
DRL and headlights,
DRL and headlights and bright beams.

The video below demonstrates the DRL's dimmed, the DRL's bright and the DRL's with headlights.

Hope the point finally sinks into your skull now. DRL's dim FFS.

No it’s like this.

Parking light.
DRL
Parking Lights and headlights,
Parking lights and headlights and bright beams.

It’s literally an entirely different set of lights in the same housing behind a diffuser.

The key is in the word DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT.

They aren’t dimming, they are switching to an entirely different thing.

They are no longer DRL’s when they’ve switched…therefore the DRL isn’t dimming, it’s simply switching to the parking light.

If you used your brain you would realise this from the switch you are literally flipping in the car to accomplish this.

But are they, there's no way to tell conclusively from the video and googling it I found many instances of it being stated that the DRL are dimmed when activating the headlights or park lights.

It’s pretty conclusive that it’s switching to the parking light, for lack of a different parking light being present and turning on.

I’m being deeply facetious now, but it’s no longer a DRL when it become a parking light…and therefore the DRL can’t dim because it is now off entirely.

Thinking about in projector light terms…it would be like saying the headlights are dimming when you turn just the parking light on. Meanwhile it’s an entirely different light.

The DRL no longer exists. You’ve turned it off.

And then turned the parking light on. Which is of course dimmer because it’s not DAYLIGHT and you need it to be a lower light intensity otherwise you’ll blind everyone.

It’s right there on the switch you are flipping to make the “dimming” happen.

All I’m getting from these posts is a lot of word salad.

@genetic post clearly shows his DRL dimming and a google search bears that out as being a legitimate thing.
DRL appear to be integrated into the parking light system in many modern cars which makes perfect sense, why duplicate something when you can just use the existing DRL lights that are designed to do the exact same thing - make the vehicle more visible to other vehicles.

And that’s all fine and good.

I never contested it’s not in the same housing.

But it’s an entirely different set of lights on and entirely different switch doing an entirely different function.

It’s not the DRL actually dimming.

Still clutching at straws, with no evidence whatsoever other than word salad.
The function of parking lights and DRL is identical - make the vehicle more visible to other vehicles.

Apparently, after extensive research on the interwebs, it has now been proven that 'some dimming' - colloquially referred to as 'Dim Sum' - has NOTHING at all to do with LED headlights & DRLs on a Suzuki (or a Volvo) - but it is in fact the following:

Dim sum (traditional Chinese: 點心; simplified Chinese: 点心; pinyin: diǎn xīn; Jyutping: dim2 sam1) is a large range of small Chinese dishes that are traditionally enjoyed in restaurants for brunch.[1][2][page needed]

Most modern dim sum dishes are commonly associated with Cantonese cuisine, although dim sum dishes also exist in other Chinese cuisines.

Why would manufacturers double the production costs of an entire separate set of LEDs, when they can just dim the LED's that are already there? It makes no economical sense whatsoever.

You have absolutely no proof, and you're just making a fool of yourself now.

When I say “set of lights” I don’t mean to say they aren’t re-using any of the individual LEDs.

But it’s more a case if the DRL is using 256 now they only turn on the one row of say 50 and every other one in the line and therefore achieve the dimming you speak of.

Doesn’t remove at all from the fact that your DRL’s are one configuration and your parking lights are another and therefore your DRL isn’t actually dimming…it’s just being turned off and your parking lights are turned all.

All clearly evidenced in your video.

The evidence is all right there in the video and the explanation in the posts that they are turning their DRLs off and turning their parks on.

It’s not hard.

And the function is the same yes but one is for DAYLIGHT and automatic in most cases and the other is for night time use.

The DRL while performing its function of being a DAYTIME running light is never dimming.

No worries just change the goalposts whenever it suits you

You realise what LEDs are right?

A few hundred little lights that work together to make one big light.

Thus a “set of lights”.

No goal post changes, just basic understanding of concepts.
