2025 Suzuki Swift GLX LED Headlight issues

Why did they have to replace the entire headlight?
The GLX has LED projector headlights - the control modules are built into the headlight. Weird design, but probably done to save costs.

I'm guessing it doesn't have traditional "bulbs" either (based off what I know from my Audi's LED headlights).

Non serviceable headlights is going make the cost of ownership of these vehicles rather expensive as they age.
Hopefully aftermarket repair solutions will be available by that time.

Well they are meant to last the life of the vehicle.

So it’s not really a service part.

But I’m sure there are plenty of third party options already.
 
Can you imagine now if you told @SauRoNZA if DRL's dimmed? His head would explode. That's a R40K repair right there.

It’s 20k for both.

But still it’s not that crazy considering it’s an entire unit and probably doesn’t compare all that badly to the conventional projector housing and all the bulbs etc.

I know one light and a bumper on my Haval is around R50k.

Lol, You still believe that DRL's can't dim? Are you living in 1998? Unrelated, but look at any Audi. Most of their DRL's have yellowed or are not working. I even made a thread about it, if i can find it... It's an Audi problem.

Is that not maybe from combining DRL’s with conventional projectors in a single housing and overheating them with time?

Haven’t really noticed it but I would believe it.

I’m thinking more of all LED setups.

And obviously there will be some failures as with all things mass production.

Likely still better deal than the whole Xenon farce.

I simply said I’ve not seen it.

And you still haven’t really proven with a proper video where all lights can be seen clearly.

There’s a difference between the same lights dimming and the array changing from one set of lights to another or turning some of them off etc.

The real question is whether it's just another array of LEDs turning on and therefore being brighter, or if it's the very same LEDs that are actually going up and down. It appears like an additional array is turning on going by how it appears "wider". Of course if they are diffused this is much harder to judge.

But thanks that's a much more useful.

More interesting question is why is it doing that? What action are you taking? It looks like they are going from parking lights to full on DRL. Which pretty much would bring me back to the point again that the DRL's aren't dimming but you are switching from one set of lights to another, they just happen to be in the same housing.

Looks like the DRL beam is dimming, which would make sense considering how simple it would be to dim them being LED.

Im rotating the stalk between:
Auto(Its Daytime)- DRL Full
Park Lights (With fogs on) - DRL Dim

So it's really just a confusion in terms.

DRL's aren't dimming, they are switching from DRL to Parking lights.

But are they, there's no way to tell conclusively from the video and googling it I found many instances of it being stated that the DRL are dimmed when activating the headlights or park lights.
