Well, Mweb, should come out and have the balls to at least give a threshold number of "x" amount on their 4mb package.
They should also maybe state that once that threshold is reached , that the line in question will be shaped to say 72kbs for the remainder of that billing month.

The line will technically still remain "uncapped" however limited.
 
So how much are people downloading with their 4MBps Uncapped 14/7 downloads? (no that is not a typo for 24/7)

OMW then we will start with the whole afrihost thing!! And people will feel done in if they dont reach that magic number!

I like mweb just the way it is. I get my downloads in adequate time, gaming is still perfect and I'm happy with my 200GB a month usage..

Yeah, this has really clarified things. It's not like you haven't been wrong before. You don't need to "max out the line 24/7 for the whole month" to be booted for the data amounts that people are now being booted for.

ADSL is a shared service, so if you max out at 4mbps 24/7 for the month, remember that up to 50 (?) other users are on your same line. Don't bother bleating about how unfair this is -- this is how ADSL works. The contention ratio is lower for business users.

We all know it's a contended service, but MWEB are ultimately responsible for their own network performance.

Issue is that our friendly MWEB shills are confusing qualitative and quantitative criteria. We want quantitative criteria for abuse, the thing where they call you and boot you off sans a warning. It's almost like a death penalty, if you're gonna have it, you should be darn sure that you tell your citizens what constitutes a capital offense and that there are enough appeals processes beforehand. For example when you go to various Asian countries, eg Malaysia or Indonesia there are proper warnings saying "DEATH PENALTY FOR DRUG SMUGGLING." They don't say "Tough penalties for drug smuggling, including or possibly death." Don't p-ssy foot around and state what the abuse is. That's all.

Why do you post here if you don't have a problem? We actually have an issue we want MWEB to take notice of. You are just pushing your own opinion on others. You're just trolling.

If you're happy - good for you. However while I am happy at the moment, who knows if my 100GB pm or less will be seen as abuse in August or September or October.

No. AfriHost throttled people down to nothing after 30 or 60GB. MWEB has more resources and has not been throttling people. We only want quantification so we can avoid problems with cut-off phonecalls and perhaps redistribute our downloads over the whole month perhaps so as not to hog the account at times when it may appear abusive.

Afrihost started off with a softcap but didn't state what it was. Community pressure coerced them to state that anything over 100GB was abusive and suddenly everyone wanted thier 100GB putting even more pressure on thier infrastructure forcing them to drop that threshhold even lower and lower with more and more restrictive throttling.

What you're asking is for is the speedlimit on the autobahn. It doesn't have one but you can still get pulled over for going too fast if your speed makes you a danger to the other road users.
