The fly in the ointment here is Night Owl. The current pre-paid billing engine can't handle it and thus the promo (of which Night Owl is a big part) is not available on any pre-paid product.

So, today, it's a technical limit. Not to say we're not working hard at getting it. ;)

I think it will be. Remember that not everyone has Cell C coverage (yet). At that price point I would consider getting my parents online. I would never consider it on post-paid because I won't be there to help them manage their data usage (and they won't be able to do so themselves).

I dont think that it will make business sense to do a package like that right about now , but i'm sure something like that will come along later.

If your track record of implementing real-time billing and hard caps on post paid is anything to go by, I'm not holding my breath.

Yes, or just say it is available on a Top-up basis but without night owl. Then your customers can make their own choices.

That's actually not such a bad idea. I may be able to organize my cap and take the risk for the extra bit of cap, but a lot of people I know are unaware of all these "potholes" and don't have the technical expertise/ or sleeping hours I have (and are on a much, much tighter budget).
They would rather have a risk free 3Gig(or even 2.5Gig) on topup, than the "potential 4Gig" with OOB.

Also are you really expecting to make more money out of people going over their limit accidentally and paying OOB rates

them topping up?

I simply can't comprehend that...
 
Vodacom don't want you to have Risk Free, they make a lot of money out of OOB Trapfalls.

I would think this is the answer.
If the night owl gives the postpaid billing system an issue then offer the 2gb on topup for those who do not want to risk massive OOB charges. I think most of us on this forum are able to handle our data bundles reasonably well however the problem comes when other less technical users use this offer if we recommend it to them.
I was going to recommend to all those that I know who are either new users wanting to connect to the internet or have adsl 384 and use less than 2gb per month to go for this vodacom deal or the cell c deal. The vodacom one if they do not have cell c 3g coverage at present. Now I will be extremely reticent to recommend the vodacom deal due to one thing - NO CONTROL OF THE MONTHLY SPEND unless one knows how to check usage. It even appears that on vodacom post paid the minimum limit that one can set is R50 (why not R0 if we would like to set it at this amount). By continuing to only offer this deal on post paid I can only presume that vodaCON is well aware of the MASSIVE FINANCIAL advantage of this decision and that many naive users will go OOB.
 
Would be nice to know what % OOB usage contributes to the total data revenue per month @ Voda...
