2TB Anytime data

Telkom aerials are Poynting to my knowledge.

Pretty sure Poynting in Midrand. Why not just call them?
Their is no real point in contacting any company in Midrand. The cost of the product and the additional cost to have it delivered is simply to much.

But even IF I had the best poynting product in the country and the best possible router that the LTE router gods can provide it will not change the fact that prepaid is to expensive and that LTE service in our area should be criminal but factually is the worst, the most horrible and absolute useless piece of trash in human history.

It cannot get any worse it is absolute garbage. This goes for our useless overly expensive Fibre providers that is nothing more then an utter waste of infrastructure. For some reason they believe every single South African earns Trillions a month. They have this idea that all of us is Elon Musk but I digress.

Pardon my frustration.

Point is, if our LTE towers are so unbelievably useless and every over the counter router junk then this problem cannot be remedied. IF you have good speed then I am envious. Where I live we simply don't and moving is not an option because I cannot hope to afford a flat in the main city.

Also Midrand is very very far away. In all honesty i wish all our ISPs will go the way of the dodo. They are nothing but a collection of the absolute worst kind of business. A business that just want to take and not give anything that includes service and customer satisfactory

I actually feel sick

See our ISPs don't understand that we must make a living using their absolute trash of a service. They just don't get it. The same goes for the Fibre providers. They actually expect that a person must give them 1 forth of our income to them for a service that "according to reports" can't even handle load shedding. I digress

I am literally questioning my life choices and maybe just maybe it is time to give up this mess. They clearly don't want us to work or earn an income so I honestly cannot care what happens to our ISPs may they all go bankrupt

Model: B818-263 (White)

HUAWEI B818 Unlocked 4G LTE 1600 Mbps Cat19 Mobile Wi-Fi Router (4G LTE in Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa & 3G Globally) Unlocked Sim Card Router Original from Huawei White

HUAWEI 4G Router 3 Prime B818

Operating Frequency:

(4G): LTE FDD: 2100(B1)/1800(B3)/850(B5)/2600(B7)/900(B8)/800(B20)/700(B28) MHz
LTE FDD SDL: 1500(B32) MHz LTE TDD: 2600(B38)/2300~2390(B40)/2500(B41)/3500(B42)/3700(B43) MHz
(3G): UMTS: 2100(B1)/850(B5)/900(B8) MHz

Right so by next year in 2023 or by the end of it I should be able to afford something like this.
Thing is I know for a fact I will not get any joy with it because you can't find any external Antenna that works with HUAWEI that is why I really got a distaste in them.

 2 External LTE antenna ports (TS-9) useless
Even the B618 requires adapters? Any case the B818 is too expensive in my opinion.

"Works with Known Router Brands
The XPOL-6-10M outdoor antenna improves signal quality and speed significantly and can be used with the following known LTE Router Brands:
• Huawei B315
• Huawei B618 (Requires 2x SMA to TS9 connector – Not Included)

What's in the box
1x Antenna Only
(B618 – adapter not included)"

This antenna performs exceptionally well in the following frequency bands: 698 – 960MHz, 1700 – 2170MHz, 2300 – 2700MHz & 3400
– 3800MHz.

Oh hell no when it comes to ISPs I turn into one ball of anger... It is just I earn a living doing maintenance that means I need to remote in and that doesn't happen. Lately I am doing work in Java as well. But all this require stable internet.

Lately we set up office at my coworker's house. He lives in a nicer area and have stronger internet and LTE. So yea when they mess with my work day I become a dragon. Why? Because we bill by the hour and every hour we can't work we don't get money.

In the beginning "bad LTE" was a hindrance now it is perfectly unusable and that is a problem. Fibre providers here want massive amounts of money out front. The installation is something like R2k Then they want money for this that and the other thing. I am willing to fork it out BUT the land lord must sign the dotted line and he is convinced they will do a bad job so the renters here can't get it. end. So yea... yey us... But I will look into the antenna maybe get one in May or June. But i will try it.

Or move since you working remotely?

Or move since you working remotely?
Moving with a young family is hard because a 1 bedroom apartment will not do. Reason why I live where I live is because it is inexpensive. I did look into moving but living cost does not allow for that. I am single parent and it is hard because school is scary expensive I will not lie about that especially for Grade 11 and 12... Then there is everything else. Like I said I live here because I have to not because I want to. I know things sound easy until you work out the nuts and bolts. Living cost but one factor, where you live is a second factor. But yea.........

Would a D-Link DWR-M961 4G/LTE-A (CAT6) AC1200 Dual-Band Wireless Router work?

Would a D-Link DWR-M961 4G/LTE-A (CAT6) AC1200 Dual-Band Wireless Router work?
according to what I saw:

Bands
-WCDMA: B1/5/8
- FDD LTE: B1/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20
- GSM: 850/900/1800/1900
- TDD LTE: B38/40

I guess it might work BUT I am not 100% sure in the end it is your call. I am still looking into Huawei routers and see if i can't get lucky.

I got my B618-65d back from a friend. It still has the original uncapped R 529 simcard in. (This cancels in 3 days)

Not too bad for band 40+40. That upload makes me cry, though. No external antenna used. I'm sure if I can position it higher up on a shelf or something, it would be a little better.

Will stick to fibre...

So I did the deed and got a few routers together. Many of them can handle the B40 and I found that between 6 and 8 PM our net is dead. It doesn't matter if I was underneath the actual tower or not. The signal was at 100% and still speeds that was less then 0.9 down and 3Mbs up was seen.

My conclusion is Telkom cannot provide service to all their clients and that is why at particular times our service go away.

I confirmed this by running a Vodacom router beside it at every test and all was the same. Vodacom gave the same 32Mbs down and 10Mbs up no matter the time. Cell C is just gone I think they no longer exist. MTN is all over the place but that is not new. The point is if you are a client of Telkom make note when your service will be good and when it will be bad because no LTE setting can save us from a ISP that can't provide service.

Thankfully I didn't buy a new router B40 or not It would not have helped.

I'm wondering if your issue is tower congestion...
I think this is true but why would Cell C be out as well and more importantly why would MTN be so bad that we can't even make calls anymore. I am beginning to suspect that the infrastructure was neglected to the point that it simply no longer exist let alone work. Sure there are a light or two that is shining on the tower but it is not say anything is working.

Yeah... Have you tried putting the sim in your phone and doing a speed test? At least that would rule out a fault router. Other than that, I would recommend trying every possible position for your router... sideways, upside down, etc any orientation or direction you can manage. Try placement in the ceiling, or in different rooms. This assumes you haven't done this already, if you have, my apologies and condolences.

We are both suffering from an issue that is plaguing Gauteng.

This is temporary its been like this for 3 weeks 4pm to 11pm.

For the last 5-6 years I have had a rock solid connection.

This is not the 2tb deal its Telkom LTE, changing bands does not make much of a difference. Its been worked on, I reported the issue dial 10210 and report it tomorrow your side as well.

You can clearly see the massive issue here

Yea I did the router data dance today i did test the Sim card in a phone but nothing works. I think we know this is Telkom not being able to handle it's infrastructure
