2TB Anytime data

Telkom is weird. I got a call from them a couple of days ago and they wanted to refund me from something I cancelled in March. And no, the phone number was local so not a scam. I told them I have not had any products with them for about 3 years since I cancelled my ADSL.
Give them your bank details! What's the worst that could happen!

Okay, so my SIM finally arrived today. It's so strange to see 1,891,331 MB of data available. And then I haven't even gotten a rollover yet!

Before I switched the SIM to micro to fit it into the B618 I decided to give the ZTE another go. Tested both connected via LAN connection and both next to each other. B618 had the better signal with ZTE showing only 4 bars.

Telkom have great data deals, but loadshedding has made their network useless for me. I believe this is the case for others on other networks in certain areas also.
Yeah, in my case MTN dies immediately in our town. Only Vodacom and Telkom stays up. Vodacom has worse speeds. With the 2TB deal it was a no-brainer to go for Telkom instead. I don't think any other provider have a package that comes close.

I have a weird issue, tried the B535 and B618 Router.

Issue is only on my laptop and desktop, connected via cable but tested on wifi also.

At start-up the connection will just die on these devices, and then randomly starts working after few min. 100% fine after few min of waiting, never did this on mtn on rain 5g.

Hopefully fibre is here next few months!

I can't get decent Ookla results off the B618.

fast.com and nperf both reflect what I see with file downloads etc.

This has been my highest so far.

The high speeds are only when the ZTE shows LTE-A. I have no idea what makes it switch between LTE and LTE-A. When it's on LTE-A I normally get 60+ Mbps. Would the speed be consistent with B1 + B3 aggregation?

Is there any way to force the B618 into doing aggregation or switch to LTE-A too? It only ever shows an LTE connection.

The ZTE definitely switches to LTE-A when I get the high speeds.

Not sure why the B618 doesn't do the same. It's stuck on 4G only.

Ever since upgrading from their R599 uncapped Lte with 300gb fup, the line goes down during load shedding. The old account maintained through day long localized, power outages but the upgraded account goes down same time as load shedding. What could the explanation for this?

Anyone in the Western Cape seeing higher pings than normal?

MyBB Ping seems lower, so guessing routing has changed.

Probably a shared tower with MTN :p :p

Depends which B618, there's B618-22d, 65a and 65d if I recollect properly.

22d does not support all Telkom bands, specifically 2300Mhz (40).

Difference between LTE and LTE-A is carrier aggregation. Check if router supports it. Also check MIMO between the two.

Test any other telkom prepaid sim data. Likely area tower issue and coincidence. Stolen batteries or such.

It's the 65D.

It's the 65D.
Both support the same (relevant) bands and both are 4x4 MIMO. The only real difference I can see is that the Huawei is CAT 11 while the ZTE CAT 6 so strange the ZTE performs better.

And thats exactly the problem. Just can't figure out what's going on. They are in the same spot (10cm max away from each other) so the signal should be the same too.

Have you turned one off at a time and run the tests independently?
