384 Kbps to 1 Mbps Upgrades

Woohoo

Line upgraded, had to try "refresh ADSL profile" and "I should be syncing at 1 meg" and eventually the consultant got it....

I'm upgraded. :D

The guy I spoke to sounded very confused. I even had to explain to him that Telkom is upgrading us for free. Sounded like he had no idea 384 is falling away. No idea where Telkom gets these people, but oh well. At least I'm 1mb now.

Now go die a fiery death, 384!

Called in this morning at 9. Consultant told me to switch off router and it has been changed. Nada. Called again at 10 and the consultant told me I'm still on the 384 and there must be a change made at the Exchange and I must call again in 2 hours.

Oh well.

Adsl checker shows 1mb still on 384, but our line is stuffed, ironically. Durban North

Our phone has been dead since wednesday, also noise on the line when it does work for 5mins a day. Unless congestion can cause that?

Just called now…was told that my line is on 1MB but something else needs to be done to my line to run at that speed? She couldn't tell me what…

Called. Was told the upgrades are running over the next 6 weeks. Asked the guy to recreate my ADSL Profile, did the router off, router on ritual… But alas, no coconut… the number of 384 still haunts…

Mine did a port reset as well as an ADSL profile reset.

You can always also call again and hope that you get a decent consultant.

Called them early this morning and asked for a port reset hoping they'll see the 384 and fix it. Did not work

Called again just now and asked them to check on what adsl profile I am: "384kbps sir, but it is being upgraded, it needs to be changed to 1mbps, let me do it for you quickly" O_o

Bam done. :)

No luck for me. Phoned and all I got was my port reset (did nothing) after telling them the things in this thread. Will try again in abit

Exactly the same here, wow even browsing the internet is faster

Hmmm, finally got upgraded after being transferred to 5 different departments/consultants, with each one having a different reason... like "you have to wait till 15th October as that is when your line is due" or the sales guy "we can upgrade to 1mb but you will be charged"... etc etc... eventually got through to someone, told her I want to upgrade my profile from 384 to 1mb... all she said was "sure"... she asked a few verification questions and there we go, not even a need to reset the modem....
