Basically i got a MicroSim from Nashua Mobile for Vodacom on Friday. They said it would take up to 24 hours to activate. I still cannot get a data signal.
I chatted to them today and they say the sim is active. I have added the internet APN in the settings.
If i restart the ipad, i enter the pin and get a "Waiting for activation, This may take some time" message. This message just stays on screen and never goes away.
The biggest problem is that i did a sim swop so i only have the microsim so i cannot actually test it in another phone (and i dont have a iPhone 4 laying around!!!! (yet))

You guys got any ideas?

Ok, stupid question: you plugged the iPad into iTunes on your computer?

That's correct. I did jailbreak it but I cannot see that would cause it not to activate?

You need to activate it before jailbreaking.

He activated the pad, the jail broke it. He is now struggling with activating the SIM.

Do you still have the adapter the sim came in ? What i did was made an adapter (to convert micro sim to normal sim) using the card the mirco sim came in. You can buy these adapters as well. This will at least let u test ur micro sim in a phone to see if it is active.

Well i am going to do a restore. and see how that goes.
then i will try the sim trick

Hi Gumpie
dont do a restore , go and chat to Nashua mobile.
i had the same issue , when i got my ipad , they put the data sim through , but i never worked for a few days , there is something on the vodacom side , that they dont do right and it causes the ipad to request activation pop up.
if you want , try and call chatz cellular in strand street, cape town , they know about the issue , or speak to one of vodacoms top technicians
good luck , you just have to be patient , TIA
