isn't old already can already been done for a while now, and it's expensive
wow 400Mb/s
we can't even get 4Mb/s correct here...![]()
Somewhere in the region of R60k a month, excluding cap?
“It reuses the existing wireline network infrastructure to provide a 400Mbps resilient packet ring”
400 Mb/s = 44 MB/s = 1 Meg per 23 ms
3GB Cap will last 68.181818 seconds![]()
Yes it's around 82% or 83% of the total line speed, so how on earth can a 400Mbps only get a max of 41Mbps? Theoretically, it should get around 332Mbps.
Close, but not quite. How often do you reach 48KBps on a 384 line or 512 on a 4Mb line? The mean (statistically) speed achieved on an ADSL line is 83% of capacity, ie a 384 line will peak at 40KBps and a 4Mb line at 425KBps, although higher speeds are obtained now and then due to spikes and cached data somewhere along the line.
Thus a 400Mbps line is theoretically capable of 41.5MBps (down, up is not taken into consideration at all, since I have no data for it) and a 3GB cap (with maximum theoretical speed at 83% used at all times) will last 74 seconds if there is no upload. On a 40KBps download you usually have 1.5KBps upload (packet checking and handshakes), so in actual fact a 400Mbps line will do a theoretical 43.06MBps transfer for http. ~~71.89 seconds.
But take this as it is, since there are obviously other factors involved such as connection times and other speed fluctuations.
what ever happened to simple maths? How did you get the 83% max used all the time?
Edit: lets say "bytes" and "bits" instead of B and b to stop confusion.
