Ive just noticed my connection was really slow tonight and when I look at the stats this is what I get:

Modem Status Connected
DownStream Connection Speed 4088 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 511 kbps
VPI 8
VCI 35

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4088 kbps 511 kbps
Line Attenuation 4.2 db 0.0 db
Noise Margin 29.0 db 10.7 db

Any ideas why 4088 ?

What was it before? - realised this was silly to ask, you had 4096 before :p

Usually from recent comments, if your upload is showing what we regard as a funny number, your exchange has gone through an upgrade. Possibly you connected to a upgraded DSLAM or MSAN.

Lets wait and hear :)

OMG ur stats! :wtf: you must call 10210 and ask to upgrade to 10meg

Dude you are living like right next to a MSAN!! :D

I will kill to have a Line Attenuation of 4.2db!

I called them and they are still telling me they cannot upgrade me to the 10mb. Its still not "available" and when I mentioned the sync speed, all I got was an EEISHH, Im not sure what them means...... :(

Lurk around your neighbourhood and check the Telkom technicians working there. Go directly to them and ask them to check for you. They are always very helpful I have found.

Great stats! My advice for the upgrade: say you want to change your sync speed, NOT upgrade to 10mbs. They are better at that as they understand it more ... :o

my Exchange only support 1 Mbps but look at my stats: I am battling to get 10Mbps down.

Operational Mode G.Dmt.BisPlus
Annex Type AnnexA
Upstream 511800
Downstream 4095900
SNR Margin(Upstream) 34.5 dB
SNR Margin(Downstream) 32.30 dB
Line Attenuation(Upstream) 0.0 dB
Line Attenuation(Downstream) 9.0 dB

Hi Rhino,
Wish my stats at home were that good. I suggest you go and find the friendly Telkom technician and ask him to sort you out with syncing at 10MB.

Good Luck Tim

4088 vs 4096 seems to just be a difference in modems, my one modem reports like that the other reports with +8 more.

I see that 'adsl2+' is in fact checked in the router's advanced settings (same with 'G.dmt'). Am I to assume that the router will automatically go on to adsl2+ if it was able to?
