Audioengine A5+ Premium Powered Speaker Pair & Audioengine S8 Black 8-inch Powered Subwoofer is what I'd like for Christmas.

Currently still using Logitech Z5500s via Optical SPDIF from onboard Realtek ALC892.

Vanatoo Transparent One are about the same price and better than anything Audioengine make imo. Definitely go with that rather.

Logitech sounds garbage thanks.

If you say so, every Logitech speaker set I've ever dealt with far outperformed its competition in the price segment. You also don't really get "garbage" with a "THX certified" badge on it ...

Probably still works because I always adjust the volume with the software, the dial is set to 50% permanently. I also have the Logitech Z-5500 which I had connected to the pc but moved them to the tv room.

I had the 5.1 with the little decoder box... great speakers, lasted 14 years and were still going when I have them away.

I first saw them at a trade show here in East London, and thought that's a lot of sound for something so small. Cambridge Soundworks, not to be confused with Cambridge Audio

Tsek, I didn't claim THX is some godlike badge that guarantees awesomeness, merely that you wouldn't easily get absolute shyte products wearing it.

EL had a THX certified cinema, many years ago, and it was awesome. Now I can hardly see the picture (but that's another story)

Soundbar and woofer seems like a very neat solution for general PC/Console use
