8800 GT, Worth It, Heat Issues ?

Hell i might even grab one of your 320gb HD's, with their "sensitive" content:eek::D
 
Well I was looking on newegg and they seem to have the 256mb cards now and those appear to have that new cooler
 
I don't really understand the need for the new cooler, my 8800GT is running a lot cooler than my previous 7900GT :D

That may be but a new more efficient cooler won't hurt at all. Especially if your gunning for a OC card:D
That said some cards seem to run hot whereas some run much cooler. I also think that the new fans run a lower RPM with similar cooling thus making the cards quiter aswell.

Hey beanie, I gotta ask. How full are all of those drives you got? I currently got a WD 320, with partitions for xp, linux and data, and while I can see myself getting an extra hard drive some time, I can't imagine how you fill up more than a terabyte... HD videos? Video editing? How full are your drives, and how do you have it organised? Sorry for seriously arb Q, but it popped into my head. :)

I currently have about 50GB open on my PC. As I said, I won't admit to having what's on my PC if the RIAA decided to show :p I have one partition for Windows XP (20GB) and the rest are purely for data. As to how I have it organised, every drive has four main folders: CD Images (for the CDs I actually own, mind you :p), Games, Music (which I also own :p) and Stuff. Anything that doesn't belong in one of the other three winds up in Stuff :D

But HD video editing does tend to fill up a hard drive, which is why my hard drives are full :)

Isn't there a way of doing a sort of reverse partition, if you know what I mean. Stick a whole bunch of physical drives together for one logical drive in windows... Not raid tho, cus of different size hard drives.

You could try Dynamic disks in Windows, but I think it's probably the same as a RAID array...
 
Ya I think that's only in XP pro... No worries, it's not necessary, but it would be quite nice.
 
to whoever was talking about the 8800 GT much earlier... i purchased one for $300 and it runs at 47 degrees Celsius with the stock fan. i can't seem to find a 512mb GTS for under $360 so i think i made the right choice.

Nice, I'm not the only one with a stuff folder :p

I got an 80gb for XP, and then for data i got a 250gb, 160gb and 120gb between them i got about 40gb-50gb free. (not to mention LARGE amounts of dvds) I need more space damnit... wonder how long it will be until those terabyte are in my price range :D

Lol I must just roflquote this again. WTF are we talking about Frozen Throne? ? ? I know people have quoted this already but I just wanted to add my 2 cents. Warcraft 3 is not the onyl game in exsistence! Two thousand + etc. etc. other games came out after it. If Warcraft is alll you use your 6600GT for, you can swap with my cousin's fx5200, he will at least be a little more thankful for that card. :rolleyes:
