it doesn't.
ok for the pll who dont believe they are testing 8meg lines believe what u want, i have seen it! only problem is the upload is exactly the same as on a 4meg, latancy on any shaped acount should be roughly the same anyway! i agree that telkom is no where near ready to uphold the infrastucture, and neotell doesnt look to promising either, but keeping the upload on a 8meg line the same as 4meg is just rediculous, they could rather keep the download minimum and increase the upload, just my 2 cents
@valante lol yeah but seeing games get better so do they become more internet hungry, 4meg dont cut it anymore
All rumors.
Dont believe it - yet anyway.
well it sounds like this IS for real... gonna be calling up my Telkom contact and see if I can hookup a trial 8MB line.
Can someone confirm where the trials are taking place? Any in Cape Town, coz my guy is based in the Cape so no point if there arent any trials happening here...
regarding adsl lines dropping due to weather, I can say that the distance from the exchange does make a huge difference. my father has a small IT company, many of his clients have adsl and all the ones on edgemead (where I stay) never have problem, even in winter, as we are so close to that new exchange. I say "new" coz its not one of the donkey ones run by a mouse-wheel...
Im really close to the exchange and this morning my line was peaking over 500KB/sec (first for me!)
Would post pic, but cant post attachments!![]()
I'll still take 7mbps over 4mbps.I highly doubt Telkom is testing out an 8mbps line, they can only just manage 3.5mbps on the so-called 4mbps line. Imagine if we ever do get an 8mbps line, they'll claim 8 but we'll probably be getting somewhere around 7megs if we're lucky...
It wont make you any better at FPS's![]()
Hmmm, I wonder how much they would charge for line rental? Hopefully not alot more than what they're currently for the 4mbps line
