I have bought an 8ta 3g stick and the 2gb + 1gb data bundle to test it out. I am happy with the service and I want to buy the 60gb + 60gb bundle. However, upon reading the terms and conditions on 8ta's website for this bundle I got confused as to when the bundle expires. In one place it says:

"How long is the bundle valid for? - The bundle is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase."

it then says:

"How long will the prepaid Once-Off Internet 60GB Promo Bundle offer be valid for? - This promotional bundle will be available for a limited period only."

it then says

"What will happen after the expiry of the prepaid Once-Off Internet 60GB Promo? - The prepaid Once-Off Internet 60GB Promo will run for a limited period only. Upon expiry of the promotion, users will be migrated to the normal prepaid per second billing rate plan."

I also read elsewhere on this site that 8ta has extended the promotion period until the end of March 2013.

So does this all mean:

1. I purchase the bundle on 1 October 2012, from 31 March 2013 people will no longer be able to purchase this bundle, and then on the 31st of October 2013 my bundle will expire, upon which I will be migrated to the normal prepaid per second blah blah blah.

OR

2. I purchase the bundle on 1 October 2012. On 31 March 2013 people will no longer be able to purchase this bundle. My bundle will also expire on this date meaning that I only had it for 6 months and not 12. (which is pretty stupid)

Common sense tells me that 1 prevails, but you never know...

8ta really needs to get a new lawyer to write their terms and conditions in a clearer manner

Thanks!

Hi & welcome
Lock in (1) except it will expire at 12 months 1 Oct..... not 31 Oct

Hi there

Thanks Tun@!

Tun@ is correct - it is your option number 1. A lawyer would probably use latin terms and then a lot more people would not understand. If you have any queries, you are welcome to ask for clarification.

Thanks for the clarification !

While we are at it, when are you going to have 3G in Grahamstown.

It lookes as if it was going to happen a few months ago, but then nothing !

just to clarify for my small mind..

you said option 1 is correct answer.. this is good...

But just to be sure.. I'f I wait until march 2013 and buy this deal again on march 1 I will still have this bundle to 2014 march 1..??

so far I have small connection issues but as far as the monetary value of this bundle goes I am really happy. would realy like to renew before expiry date of the promo.

Hi Jola

No problem. We have requested feedback from our network planners regarding their rollout plan for that region and hope to get a response soon.

Hi Mosescapetown

You are correct. If you purchase on 1 March 2013, your 60+60GB bundle will expire on 1 March 2014. We will look at your thread regarding your connection issues.

Discontinued?

60GB+60GB promotional package for R1,800 in the *180# pre-paid data bundle USSD menu.

I see the 60GB+60GB no longer shows up on the USSD menu. It was there last week... Is Telkom killing the promo?

I was under the impression that Telkom Mobile/8ta would communicate before they discontinue this promotion but highly doubt it. They are spending a lot of money to advertise it.

Why remove it from the USSD menu then?

I send an email to 8ta sales on 21 Feb 2013 and their reply was "The campaign will be stopped at the end of March"

I hope they will continue with it but to be on the safe side I will get myself another one before then

I'm totally confused now, is the 60+60gb promo ending end of March 2013 or not ?

On 21/2/2013 I received a reply by email from Tumi stating:-

Good day

The campaign will be stopped at the end of March.

Regards
Tumi

So I emailed again just to confirm that it will be stopped and today received a reply from Liana stating :-

Good day

Kindly note that 8ta hasn’t made any announcement about the promotion ending any time soon.

Please note that neither does the 8ta website state anything about the limit period of this service.

Regards

Liana

I would really appreciate if the 8ta Rep can confirm if the promo will come to an end or not.

It's like I said they suppose to communicate if the promotion is coming to an end but highly doubt it they've spent a lot of money on advertising "cabs/taxi's" etc highly doubt they will can it so soon and they need more clients
