Hey Peeps

I am busy testing out 8ta atm as i have moved and cba to re-order my adsl line so i purchased the 3gig Prepaid for testing purposes. I have used MDMA to check my signal quality which is around -63 to -69 Dbm and i get around 1080KB/s download speeds

My question is latency, is this normal or is 8ta having issues? If it is normal then i guess i will be ordering my Telkom line

It's wireless. So yes. Normal

this is from Iburst wdsl - also wireless and there is a huge difference

If thats normal then 8ta is pritty crappy :(

The Hill *South of Johannesburg* not downloading anything whatsoever but did discover that 8ta make use of Telkom ADSL which is pathetic thought they would have their base stations connected via fiber but they probably using their outdated copper infrastructure.

and I am getting annoyed being connected and assigned a new ip every time. Their network isn't stable at all

Yea been testing 8ta for the last week and i am not impressed, I get decent download speeds i will admit but that is only during the day. once it hits 6pm latency goes through the roof and i am lucky if i get more then 60KB/s download speeds aswell as browsing slows down to a crawl. 8ta support is non existent

So yea ordered my Telkom line today, they are installing on Friday :)

That is awesome news that Telkom are installing your line on Friday - seriously I thought 8ta/telkom would tweak their network and make it stable *latency*.

Example - Now I am connected and every 1-5minutes getting assigned a new IP and their signal strength is weak *fluctuates - 1-2-3-4-5 bars then 3-2-1 bar etc.
