A cellphone contract from hell

Yeah, I can sympathize with "JOhn". I almost never get feedback from Vodacom 4u Store in La Lucia (Durban) unless I call them or personally go in to the store.

I am sticking it to them in the way I know best, i.e. port my number in a few weeks time once my contract is up.

I gave up on mobile stores and rest of nonsense.. following similar story to "John" where upgrade of my phone and re newal took so long I lost interest in doing an upgrade.. my last visti was to downgrade to el-cheepo package that suited my pocket beter .. ordered phone i wanted trough internet and forgot about them...

that was 3 years ago..... never looked back...

Must be Vodacare at Somerset Mall

Same thing happened to my wife 2yrs ago - ended up asking for advice at JWS Cellular, Main Rd, Somerset West. Within 24hours this guy, Willie, had my wifes contract renewed, details updated and her phone on his counter waiting for her !!!

End of the day I have 4 accounts with him worth more than R1000 a month

Went to upgrade my phone at Vodashop Pavillion, Westville last year. Was done in 2 hours, I also asked the guy to transfer the contract onto my name.....

........took 2 months, 5 phone calls and visits to 2 Vodastores and Vodaworld before it was sorted out....

I say John should move providers! & networks!

I feel the pain & find that stores now days are filled with people who have less then any aducation or customer skills.

I had an issue at a store on the weekend taking back a faulty product that has a life time warranty - granted I did not have the till slip.

Which I was told was most important! I suggested I purchase a new one & then bring the slip & old device in for the swop out & then once that was done bring the just bought one back & ask for a refund which they would have done!

Now you tell me why some people just can't make the process easy? rather then getting us the buyers angry & not wanting to go back?

Sounds like a Vodacom shop. CellC is to hard-up for clients to tell someone to "come back 2 days later" and MTN sends you constant SMS's with updates on your application. Or, at least the shop I went to to port back from VMobile did.

I ported from Nashua mobile to MTN direct on the 14th February. My application with MTN was processed and approved on the 18th February. All processes have been concluded telephonically and via email and the phone and sim are to be delivered to my home address. I was told 3 to 4 working days for delivery. It's now 6 working days later and nothing...

Also banged my head against a wall with the big blue (soon to be red). From experience, dealing with the middle men seems to work here. Both my phone contracts are now with MTN through Nashua mobile and I've found Nashua Mobile to be great. Had my new phone delivered and when requesting a sim swap out, they kept me up to date via email as to when I could collect.

Sometimes it doesnt pay to go direct. :P

Ja, happened to my wife as well.

She applied at MTN (in Menlyn) - and we waited. Eventually we gave up and went to Vodacom - instant phone. Day after she got the phone at Vodacom, MTN phoned up to say her phone is ready. She gave them some gas. :D

I am sure that most people would like to think that it is their own network that is mentioned here. Could we get a poll? I am convinced it's MTN, and think it does make a difference who it is...

That is what forums such as this do- name and shame, baby. Name and shame.

VC Menlyn = Terrible service on more than one occasion (Phone repairs)

VC Customer Care Menlyn = Good Service from the rep there.

Been there with VODACOM done that they will NEVER see my business again and I tell everyone who will listen my story and they all agree VODACOM has @*&$^@* service:mad:

I have terrible and shocking service with Vodacom 4u Store La Lucia Mall!

How about _John_ going to MTN @ Canal Walk in Century City to find no parking for a main shop with only a few parking bays. Forced to move _John's_ car to a shop around the corner to come back out 20min later to find his car was wheel clamped. Paid R200 later to move to official MTN customer parking bay and still had to wait another hour before his ticket was called.

man thats rough, even with autopage i had better service. I opened a contract there a few years ago, took no more then about 4 hours from the time i dropped off the paper work till i made my first call on the new phone with the new number.

Got to give this guy credit for sticking through the process for 2 weeks, i would have been pissed off after a few days of that kind of bs

It must be the MTN shop in Rosebank. The staff there is not their moms brightest sparks. When i did my upgrade there it took 3 day for the upgrade to go through seeing that it took me almost an hour to explain to them what a HTC VOX(S710) is. My work coworker did his upgrade at the Vodashop in Rosebank with out any hassles.
