And is there any way to get it to show notifications screen when I’m viewing Maps?

A WhatApp comes through and disappears
Change the Whatsapp notification banner style to persistent...

Tapatalk is rubbish in general but it does sound like you're experiencing a lot of issues. You SO having the same problems ?

She doesn’t use nearly the same things - and everything she battled with is sorted via this thread (Ie she was also battling with switching apps fast, and the delete from Mail irritated her)

She also loves Snapseed and she’s happy to open from the app (where I’m not).

But it’s not that’s either of us are unhappy (she’s very chuffed with her Mini) but I think I just expected more.

I haven’t found dealbreakers and I’m trying Apple software to at least give it a full go though

Tapatalk really is kuk sometimes - every 2nd time I launch a forum it opens a blank/black screen and I have to force stop it (very quick to do) - but there's no decent alternative that doesn't involve all sorts of other irritating compromises, so I continue to use it :p

One of my international forums (and locally, Carbonite) stopped supporting it - now I just browse those forums less ie only when I'm at a computer.

Why? Modern forum software (like Xenforo) scales to fit phone/tablet/laptop, it's far better than any app, imo.

The one mistake you don’t want to make is trying to use an iPhone like it’s an Android phone, either accept that it simply is not an Android or rather buy an Android. Yes there are some “Android-esque” features Apple are adding but as you can see they are done in an Apple-esque manner, iOS will never be Android and vice versa.
Always important to remember. If you want an android experience, use android. If you want an apple experience, use apple.

Cannot agree less.

Notifications and Attachments being the primary function of Tapatalk that makes it work so nicely.

Without Tapatalk I wouldn't use forums at all any more, the manner it condenses things to only the content is what makes it great and also uniform across all forums.

Units? What do you mean?

What kind of stutter?

I have a lesser/older non-Pro phone and don't recall seeing any visual stutter.

I used Tapatalk for years, lifetime sub, twice, monthly payments etc until about 6 months ago when I dropped it for good. The continued problems with attachments really got to me in the end and decided to ditch it. I'm used to Safari now and it's not too bad.

But why Tapatalk always felt the need to tinker with something that worked perfectly 8 or 9 years ago and ultimately deliver a worse product with every update is beyond me.

Monthly Payments? What?

I bought it once and that was that and don't recall having any major issues.

If you are a one forum person sure it makes sense, but nothing works as well as Tapatalk for keeping track of multiple.

I'm probably telling you what you already know, but there are two apps, one a monthly sub for VIP with no ads, and another is the Pro. Both have different ways of doing attachments and both started to infuriate me with the constant niggles and eventually earlier this year, constant errors while adding an attachment.

I think the first time I paid a lifetime sub was 2011 with my Samsung S2. That was dropped by Tapatalk after a few years and we all got given VIP status for a while, can't remember how long. So I paid 9.99 GBP for the Pro and it also just deteriorated over the years. Went back to VIP and that got schit as well with constant time outs and error messages attaching photos. So I just gave up a few months ago and use Safari on my phone now.

Edit: And yes I follow a few forums but just have shortcuts to them on Safari.
