One of this weeks MBW picks was a little (5mb) image editor called Acorn by flyingmeat.com. Just downloaded it a few minutes ago and I can already tell its really fast and has some nice features. While for me it's not a photoshop replacement (then again what is?) I'm probably going to slap my $40 down on the table and use it for most of my lightweight image editing.

Anyway - back to this Acorn - cripes its fast. Does tapping directly into the GPU really make that much difference?

I've got 10 000+ photos in iPhoto, and just use the batch edit feature to add a bit of colour.

No particular kind - I only keep the most recent 5000 photos active in Aperture (which I use for the majority of tweaks) but sometimes I just want to do a little something-something.

I've already bought PS3 and Aperture so that $40 pales in comparison.

Acorn's also got a really nice feature set and I think it's going to be lightweight enough for that older powerbook of mine that I lug to shoots these days (until I can convince the missus to trade me her 12" ibook for it )
