Just for ic......

Vodacom will be changing the expiry date rule for ad-hoc data bundles, specifically for contract customers (excluding Top Up), on 1 December 2007.

Current Business Rule

Ad-hoc data bundles activated during the month currently expire on the last day of the month. All unused ad-hoc data bundles are forfeited when the bundles expires.

New Business Rule

Ad-hoc data bundles will now expire 30 days after the bundle is activated. All unused ad-hoc data bundles will be forfeited when the bundle expires.

Example: If an ad-hoc data bundle is activated on 23 November 2007, it will expire on 22 December 2007 and any unused ad-hoc data bundle will be forfeited.

This brings CDB in line with PPDB.

Good news! Now for IC's next request...bandwidth roll-over :D

Thanks Vodacom! That is really awesome.

Now why not shake up the CDB vs. PPDB battle again and implement data roll over on PPDB only :D (Just kidding)

But we all would love to see data bundle roll over. ;)

That is really good news. I am sure there are alot of people on Bolt-on bundles and find themselves running out of bandwidth towards the end of the month and then activating additional ad-hoc bundles (like myself). This will definitely benefit alot of Vodacom data users.

Thanks guys!

Great news indeed! Progress in the right direction is always welcomed  Great work vodacom3g :D

But we currently do have roll over. Roll over and die!:D

Excellent news, thank you v3g & the folks at Vodacom that made this happen :).

Now about that realtime data usage monitoring for CDB customers...

I suspect I will be migrating from using PPDBs, back to using Ad-Hoc CDBs, will monitor my own usage though - the same as I always do with ginggs' app :).

Now for the next step. If you buy a 2Gig bundle it can expire after 30 days, but make the 3Gig bundle 45 days, 4Gig 60 days, 5 Gig 75 days and 10 Gigs 150 days. This will allow you to sell bundles upfront and get all the cash up to 5 months earlier.........

Alternatively, just reduce the prices for bundles bigger than 2Gig.

Which one do you prefer? (a rhetorical question I guess :))

Considering that Ad-Hoc CDBs are no longer limited to the calendar month in which they are activated, you should [post=1333515]click here to spread 3GB over 60 days...[/post]

The 4u Zero Contract I presume? :)
Yep, but I've decided to delay that migration until Vodacom has realtime data usage monitoring and a hardcap in place for CDBs - I was going to take a chance but realised that I'm actually very happy using PPDBs which works extremely well - a case of if it aint broke don't fix it...:)

Now that the rule change has been applied...

I did not notice any really bad 3G network performance yesterday, with everyone trying to burn off the remains of their ad-hoc bundles (or maybe that's just my imagination!).

What I have noticed today, looking at my usage on Vodacom4me, is that my remaining ad-hoc 2Gb bundle usage (loaded last month) appears to be paused, while this months contract 500Mb has been eroded by todays use. Now that really doesn't work for me, because I've got to rush through the 500 Mb before I can get back to using the 2GB and finish it before the 30 day expiry period.

Anybody else notice this?

Must be the initial teething problems on the system - perhaps have V3g check it out.

I think this might be correct. If you have a contract, it'll run first. Anything you added on top of that will only run after you've used up you contract bundle.

While I understand what you're saying, it makes sense from a system perspective. When the ad-hoc expired at month end in the past, you would not have seen this behaviour.

That may make sense from a system perspective, but the reality is that no business can afford to put its systems before the customers interests. It's not a sustainable business model.

Let's look at this from the customer perspective. Last month I used up a 500Mb bundle by the 12th. I activated a 2Gb bundle on the same day, believing (based on information given, that the ad-hoc bundle would go for 30 days from then) that it would be a cost-effective approach (cost per MB, higher usage during the holidays, etc.). I now have to use this month's 500Mb PLUS the remaining 800Mb from the ad-hoc bundle by the 12th of this month. My normal rate of usage won't get through that, so I'll just be wasting it by not using it or by downloading stuff I would not ordinarily want anyway.

That's just not going to work in my favour, is it?
