AD-Hoc bundle expiry date change

IMO this problem does need to be solved, having said that, if I were using CDBs [which I'm not - I use PPDBs], I would only use Ad-Hoc CDBs and never Bolt-On CDBs together with Ad-Hoc CDBs.

this is a huge problem

Well i have a 500mb bolt-on CDB and when i exceed that i need to top up with a ad-hoc bundle near the end of the month as 500mb doesnt cut it normally. so i reloaded with a 500mb ad-hoc to get me to the end of the month. So it has a carry over brilliant that way i can use it up and then only will my next month's bolt-on get affected right? No instead the bolt-on kick in 1st leaving my ad-hoc unused. Can you not see the problem with this? by the time my bolt-on runs out it should be roughly around the same time my ad-hoc runs out this month. second of all I dont recall the exact date my ad-hoc was started so i'll need to keep a crazy eye on when the contract expires... this again is uncalled for..
seriously overcharging me in december and now this.
catch a wake up vodacom! your service sucks.

Add hoc carry over for 30days OR NOT ??

Hi,
Ive just bought an additional 1 G add hoc for this month last night.
I see that they have a disclaimer that it will expire at the end of the calender month if its not used..
Can you tell me what happened to 30 days carry over before expiring?
Thanks,

The above is a PM I sent to V3G..Does the additional add hoc still carry over for 30 days or is this now null and void ??

Sorry,I never took a screen shot of the disclaimer but it was a new window after I had "bought" an additional 1Gig ..

More on the 'Prepaid data is cheaper' debate

Forgive me if I missed it somewhere else in this thread, but I don't think anyone has taken Vodacom's substantial prepaid 'bulk-buying' discounts into account in the discussion on whether prepaid data is cheaper.

Simply: if you buy R1,000 of Voda airtime anywhere and load it, you actually get credited with R1100 of airtime. That's been a standard Vodacom deal for years, and so you have an immediate 10% or so discount -- which immediately makes prepaid data bundles 10% cheaper than contract. You can nibble another couple of per cent discount off the price by buying your R1,000 airtime from discounters like Pick & Pay, Pep, Jet etc.

The final result is about 12% cheaper than the contract price for data, which is well worth doing. Also therefore 12% or so cheaper than MTN prepaid. This is all assuming you are a heavy enough user, and financially solvent enough, to shell out a grand at a time.....

Anyone know of any similar MTN discount possibilities for those of us who have a better MTN signal or just think their service level is better (other than their stupid 'only one data bundle a month' rule)?

Ad-hoc Data Bundles

I tried searching, but with no difinative answer.

I added a 500MB Ad-hoc data bundle onto my Talk 100 contract last night.

Is this bundle going to expire on 30 April or 10 May?

I remember reading that Ad-hoc bundles last 30 days, even on contract...but everything I searched said all contract data bundles end at the end of the month!!
:confused::confused:

I hope so, cause I need the "data" for my big end of April beginning of May weekend(s)!!

30 days exactly from the date you purchase, so 9th May, if you bought it last night.

Add on bundle expiry date

Hi

I am a contract customer and last month bought a 250MB add on bundle which I didnt use up. Due to the 30 day carry over limit I want to know which day it will expire this month as I cant remember which day i bought it. How can you determine this as I cant seem to find any reference besides the fact that I have 184mb remaining on vodacom4me.

Thanks

Of the various options, I find the simple free SMS system to be the best:

SMS the word 'balance' to 100.

Replies are not always instantaneous, but you will get back an SMS response which states your total airtime balance, your data bundle balance, and the date the bundle expires. Easy!

Anyone know, BTW, if MTN has anything similar in terms of ease?

Only available to Prepaid Subscribers.

Try SMS'ing MM to 31050.

The "MM" SMS to 31050 only returns a balance and NOT the expiry date. :(

Some time ago, I asked V3G to suggest to VC that they please display the expiry dates of databundles on the 4ME website, but they have not done so, as yet.

Can't be too difficult, can it?

Have you tried the USSD *111#?

Again, MM to 31050 is for contract subscribers. It returns a SMS saying how much you've used and how much you have left.

SMS'ing balance to 100 returns a SMS displaying your current airtime balance, data bundle balance(if any loaded), with data bundle balance expiry date.

Vodacom4me does show the expiry date of data bundles for PREPAID subscribers.

Nothing is simple when you work with systems this large, but your request/suggestion did go through and was approved, so, if not already there, it's just a matter of time.
