Great company. I use them for their 3G- R89 for 300MB is also a lekker "up yours" to the other major players.

R130 / 30 GB = R4.33 per GB. Sainet is selling it for R9.83 per GB. Most people will find this offer more useful than a local-only account, even though local only is cheaper per GB. I would be willing to pay R9.83 per GB for local bandwidth on this account. It mean's no hassles for me, everything is taken care of on the ISP side. For the few people out there who can live without international, or are willing/know how/can dedicate a machine to split local and international/are willing to constantly stuff around with router settings or PPOE connections, this product will make no sense at all.

For the rest of us, it is a great deal. No fuss, no hassles, great pricing. It also entrenches the new standard pricing of R29/R30 per GB for international/blended that Fuhrer Afrihost brought us. All the other ISPs are currently looking like Zuma - like a stupid rapist with a shower head glued to his bald oddly shaped head.

Now the biggest question of all, is why the ISPs didn't bring this to us 5 years ago when everyone was crying out for it? Why only now when the cost difference between local and international is blurring away, when the country is standing before a deluge of international bandwidth?????????
 
I can only think of what the market will look like in a years times....Kudos for the rollover!!! that's a biggy.....no piggy bank sh@#$@# that you have to pay extra for....
 
The other ISP's have seriously dropped the ball. Now anyone can do local/int splitting without hassles.... even my Granny.

Come punks... catch the f-ck up

Why?
If it's cheaper for an ISP to provide local-only connections, what's wrong with pricing them differently?
Why MUST we have a model where the one side subsidises the other?

I'm all for transparent real costs and product offerings.
We don't need to be like the rest of the world to be world leaders, we can lead just as easily.

Agreed, having cheaper local encourages development of the South African local network, perhaps more people will start hosting locally as well or have local mirrors. Also local is always going to be faster, you can't really dispute that.

The main thing is that it is bringing down the cost of internet in SA.... hence its the way forward.
 
I was saying to my partner "let's try these guys" - the response was "how does it differ from WebAfrica?" After explanation I was asked why don't we ask WA about this - I know this answer to this one: WA "we busy working on it and will announce something at a future date, our own network blah-blah-blah, free gaming network blah-blah-blah". I just signed up with these SAINET guys, seems the best is to hop around for now - my 10gb at WA R490 - SAINET R295 for 10gb + 30gb local - topup at R29.50 per gb

I mean their retail is cheaper at what WA's resellers are paying per gb

Thats why I left them. Wanted to give them a chance and held out, but late last year I decided to switch to AfriHost. The free gaming servers and steam downlaods (is that up yet?) was not enough to keep me there. I need cheaper international.

Clearly you a sucker for punishment, and / or have cash to waste.
You get no sympathy.
 
This is nice, hoping this trend starts as client side routing is old considering many doing their own routing such that they really should be affording their clients this convenience. Question is this.. Local vs which provider. Also does seacom or isp's on them even have a common news server or mirrors? Not that thats the only reason to have it, lots of other local things i will be doing soon.

Seacom is an international cable, it's got nothing to do with what network you use locally.
 
Yup, I'm thinking they don't have a higher tier isp by providing on there except perhaps neotel assuming it allows some peering or something. unlike e.g. sat-3 provided thru saix or is which have their own news hosts.
