So, if you haven't heard or read about the outages reported the last few days, ADSL is down in Bellville.

Just to clarify my story, in simple terms. Over 48 hours ago, I requested Telkom to increase my ADSL line bandwidth, get advised this will take 24 hours. At the same time, requested that Afrihost, take over my line rental, and received and update from them saying that Telkom declined their request. This update was received 24 hours after my discussion with Telkom.

Low and beyond, after 24 hours, no connection. So called Telkom up, and after 6 hours, 8 calls being cut, and multiple transfers, a fault log is all I have to show for it. Last time I had a fault log, it took two weeks to hear from them. No word from support about any outages out here.

Super confused, if this because of my ADSL upgrade request, the declined Afrihost line migration request, or is this the communal ADSL issues in my area, according to various sources.

Any ideas to put my mind at ease? Any updates on the status of the Bellville issues?

My line (Tygerfalls area) is performing better.

Last night however.... Completely down

I feel for you brother!

If you need your internet for work.

Pm me I don't mind letting someone share some 40Mbps goodness.

You are on the same exchange. I'm searching for your address. Full on assault! This kind of banter cannot be tolerated! I'm gonna contact Telkom and tell them to destroy your connection, because that's the only thing their support is good for! LOL!

Please don't I am the guardian of hope. My work is to destroy bandwidth and create the new internet archives.

I stroll through the South African Back haul benchmarking and reminding the mortals that a 40Mbps does a lot of damage.

LOL! I have a tear in my eyes! I have gone ballistic on Telkom. If I didnt phone them for the upgrade, I would still have had Internet most likely!

I feel your pain, I have to open a new fault every week as they keep closing my fault. Got a call from telkom tech yesterday i explained to him that its a intermittent problem and he must please not close the fault. Guess what i got 10min after that conversation.......yup a sms saying your fault has been restored and closed...........i give up. been doing this for 3 weeks now

Maybe you guys have done this... Mybe not.

But I feel when you go to the physical shop.... Things fall in place.

Not sure if my presence or just friendly staff.

Not a good idea atm i might pack some C4 and blow up the telkom store lol

I did use some "not too calm" words and sentences.

I reckon I should pop in to be honest. I have tried everything online to get a reaction. I still know which of my before mentioned scenarios could explain this Internet issue. But support received over the phone is anything to go on, store support would probably be in for a painful experience.

Store support you can use gestures not experienced on a phone call.

Gestures of mass destruction! I'm scared that security will get involved. I don't take to well to people who cannot do anything, as last time I was asked to call their support center in store.

Jip, right there is where I will tell them fck this and throw stuff around cause mayhem get kicked out and then drive to the next telkom shop and start over.
Leaving a trail of destruction till there is only one left and they shall fear me.

LOL! Yeah well, managed to get my issue resolved. Not at the store but through a friend, who knew a guy, who knew a guy! As suspected, was a port issue!

Having problems in the Rosendal/Bellville area:

021 910****
Telkom 2mbps
Afrihost 100gig capped
12/04/2016 @ 22h00

Our internet has been down since the 12th of April 2016 around 22h00.
I logged a fault with Afrihost, they informed the the problem lies with Telkom - Line not syncing.
I contacted Telkom on the 14th and logged the Fault. Telkom never came back after stating the issue has been handed over to technical. I called again on the 16th, asked of they could escalate the issue (which they did not do until today).
Telkom did inform me that the exchange has been damaged - apparently vandalized.

Does anyone else have problems in this area? If the exchange was damaged / the cause of the issue, I cant be the only one with a problem?

My line is down as well and I stay in Bellville more or less the same time yours went down. Any feedback from Telkom or restored line?
