I'm paying for a 4mbps line. Weekly tests run at 512kbps and less. Getting well die moer in now, The thing is Telkom is paying all their top management too much and they just sit rolling snot bolletjies. They just don't know how to run a network, and their technicians are just as clueless, period. The latter is definitely true because a white guy, speaking very fast and sounding very clever, told me I should hook up a filter with a very old telephone line, this creates a termination point as the exchange can't find the correct termination point and can't sync. WTF ? I knew he was talking rubbish. Die dom boks wat ek is, desperate to try anything, I went and searched for Noah's telephone instrument, still no luck. This guy phoned me from Cape Town Telkom Technical Dept. Another technician told me most of the copper are too thin to handle more than 4mbps from the exchanges to the house, I'd be lucky to even get 4mbps. And he was right! you must just talk to the right technician who is willing to "talk" to get the actual situation.
A year has gone by and they are still "upgrading" the exchange with my fault just being closed as I log them.
