Hmm. I'm surprised so many of you are moaning over a free upgrade (fine, only 4Mbps people are eligible, but still). I don't see how the argument of using up your cap faster applies here. Upload less, if you are worried about that. You control how much you upload... A faster upstream synch is going to let you upload the same amount faster, and not necessarily cause you to upload more (if you are worried about p2p, throttle your upload speed.)
I upload a lot of files internationally, so this is a nice upgrade for me. I haven't tested it yet, but it may also help with the video calls I do over Skype (to people in the US). Just the other day, I was uploading photos to my web site, and I was uploading at a constant 52KB/sec, compared to the 35KB-odd I was getting before. That IS an improvement
I think the thing to moan about here is that they are only doing 512Kbps and not 640Kbps
