There is I'm afraid, a network notice was confirmed some time ago :( We're seeing a spike up in latency on the South IPC. We're working on it.

A lot of loss on the one path.

Hard to tell where the latency is being introduced here. Are other accounts affected/ seeing similar results?

Only problem is that this is not medium impact as stated.

It's very difficult to determine severity. It's probably viewed as medium since two other regions are running perfectly and there is some connectivity, though I am sure for those affected it is probably very severe :(

The issue wasn't really latency. It was packet loss I am sure as when I moving or using abilities it would almost freeze up for a second then catch up quickly after that. And it's not just my character that was like this, everyone in the game was jumping around at stages for me.

I did play on my Web Africa account after that and it was fine.

This still doesn't make sense for JHB though. North region IPC is not under high demand so latency and speeds are generally good right now. How long did you test with the other ISP account?

East is normal from what I can tell. International slower than I'd like.

MTN Business speed test:
Download Speed: 3764 kbps (470.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 743 kbps (92.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 36 ms
2/3/2015, 10:24:59 PM

MyBB International:
Download Speed: 2558 kbps (319.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 592 kbps (74 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 210 ms

I don't think that's too concerning. Definitely within normal range.

I played 2 games with the other account, no issues at all. I played one game on my Afrihost account before I switched.

There's a nationwide Telkom issue at the moment affecting general connectivity.

Ironic that I need to depend on OTHER ISPs to find out what the problem is...

South is affected the worse (latency & packet loss), but other regions are not unaffected either. Not only a Afrihost issue, numerous ISPs are affected.

Any news on this since?

Morning everyone

We received confirmation that this is a Telkom problem relating to IPC in the region. It seems like Telkom resolved this over night and we're seeing services return to normal but we'll keep monitoring on our side. If we can get any official report from Telkom we'll relay what we can, but I'm sure RPM and his guys will probably be investigating as well.

If anyone from the region can confirm that all looks good, that would also be great :)

I think you guys should go to bed, there isnt much you can do to fix the problem, and we dont want you to be dossing at your computers tomorrow when we actually need you. ;)

I literally went to bed after reading this last night :)

Then I assume it must have just affected non Telkom clients, because switching over to a Telkom account resolved my issues last night.

From other information on other services I am involved with, it looks like there is a problem with an IPNet router in Bellville.

We (Telkom Internet) don't have any IPC circuits, or any SAIX circuits used for ADSL customers on this router, we have circuits on the *other* router in the same location.

Telkom Internet doesn't use IPC, so they wouldn't have been affected by a nationwide IPC problem...

Telkom Internet switched to the IPC platform a few months ago, only SAIX & the Telkom Guest account do not use IPC.
