The whole of yesterday and this morning. Followed the same pattern. Reset the router and it's fast and then over the next 10 minutes it gets slower and slower and then becomes unusable.

Lightning fried our router on Saturday evening, though. So replaced that and the above happened with the new one. Not sure if there's a problem with this router so going to try another one, but I'm wondering if it couldn't also be damage on the line itself from the lightning?

The drop off in performance that you are seeing could definitely be damage to either the ADSL line itself, or the Port at the Exchange, though from personal experience, it is probably the line that was damaged at some point. If you see the same thing happen with the other router that you tested with, Telkom will definitely need to come and have a look at the line.

If your line is with us, drop me a PM so that I can get a fault logged for you.

I have contacted your support almost an hour and a half ago due to zero p2p throughput, it seems it is being throttled to death. Is anyone working today? I have done several resets and there has been no difference only more frustrations due to my connection being limited, resetting several more times gives me full access but still no p2p. Also line test on client zone fails every time.

Could you check if Business Optimization has been enabled in your Clientzone, when this is enabled, your P2P throughput will drop off significantly.

The Test my Line feature is spotty at the moment, as Telkom is busy overhauling their back-end platform, and we currently do not have much functionality on our side until Telkom has completed the upgrade itself.

You can also send me a PM with your account details so that I can look into this from my side.

Okay, thanks. Will let you know once I've tested the 2nd router.

Seems to be working with the new router, so was probably a faulty unit on the previous one. :)

Ah!

Just to be on the safe side, please keep an eye on your connection, and let us know of any changes that you notice.

Hi.
I am having the same problem of needing to restart my modem to get full line speed back.Early morning everything runs great but as the day progress the speed will start to decrease.

Restarting the modem sometimes will help.

That sounds like you may be having issues with your ADSL Line or possibly with your port on your Exchange. Along with your speed drops do you have an increase in latency as well?

Is this a local or international test? I'm assuming international form the note at the bottom. What is the line speed that you're testing on?

10MB line 8MB Business account. Even local tests show an increase in the ping, general browsing just seems slower. Site take longer to open, downloads slower, Youtube buffers far more than it used to.

Are you able to paste a traceroute that I can look at?

I am not in the office, but I have asked my PA to do a few tests for me, she might not be able to do a tracert though. This is really annoying, as it seems to be a continuous issue, everything works ok for a week or so of the month, the rest its really poor. This has been going on for months, and there never seems to be fix. I am continually posting speed test and tracert results, and nothing gets done?

I'll need to see a traceroute when the issues are being experienced, I know it's frustrating but intermittent issues are usually the hardest to track down.
Can you also confirm the DNS servers you're using now?

We use OpenDNS, always have and never had issues.

The speedtest now seem fine using the MyADSL speed test, but browsing still seems slow. I will have to try and do a tracert later, but if there is load shedding there will be no power when I am back in the office

Keep me posted.
Also, just for testing purposes can you see if automatically assigning DNS has any overall difference?

My speedtest.net gives normal values ping 28ms and Speed Down 3.5Mbps and up 0.48Mbps.
