Also for some reason NNTP isn't going faster than ~450k even though speedtest is showing full speed

Are you downloading from local or international servers?

Yup international but it will usually max out to 1 meg. Also it's a premium service so there shouldn't be any slowdowns from their side if that helps

It's probably linked to the degraded international throughput you mentioned earlier - our team are checking this out

My speeds are ridiculous as well... Ping 890ms and I'm lucky when I get 1mbps down on my 4mbps line.

Speed tests look fine maxing out local and international, but international downloads barely reach 10kb/s and many just die.
