Just switched back to my business account and did a speed test, speed now seems fine

Trace complete.

Should I still test with the telkom guest account?

When changing accounts, the DSLAM port most likely reset. If the latency worsens then chances are there are congestion issues.

Ok I have internet again, but almost zero p2p, this has been the same since Saturday.

Glad to hear you're back up and running :) Downloads may be a little slow, I updated the thread earlier around reduced throughput.

aah okay, so that's why my downloads are running so slow. When do you expect that to be back to normal?

I can't say for sure, we're routing through failover links and managing the traffic as best we can. The minute I hear anything to switch back to the primary link I'll let you guys know.

We're routing through failover at the moment, so it might be a little up and down. I'm sure it'll return to normal soon though :)

Just a quick update on the international traffic - it looks like the links have returned to normal. The throughput has spiked up to what it should be, we'll keep a close eye on things :)

Hi Afriguy. Any reason that Google play store updates are really slow? If I do an update using 3g - speeds awesome. Switch to wifi - 0,6 kbps on a 4 mbps business account. Everything else seems normal so far - even p2p. Was hoping it would improve once the links were sorted but unfortunately no such luck.

And this happening on both my phone and my wife's phone.

That's a bit of an odd one, not sure if it's the left overs from the reduced throughput :( I just grabbed Trial Xtreme 4 from the Play Store and it came down pretty quickly from my end.
What's your DNS set to at the moment?

Set to "get automatically from ISP" and is currently using 196.7.7.7 as primary and 8.8.4.4 as secondary.

Those are definitely the right DNS settings, would you mind trying to install a new app and check if the speeds down for that as well.

:wtf:

So updating apps is slow, but download new apps is running at normal speeds?! That's quite strange.

Could you maybe test the performance and response times to a few other Google services, like Youtube and Gmail.

Anyone else seeing higher latency this morning in KZN?

The IPC does look quite busy in the East at the moment, do you have a traceroute that you can post here? I'd like to check where the latency is being introduced.
