That's odd. Can't see any general issues in the South this morning.
Drop me a PM with your deets and I'll get it checked out :)

Hehe, if you're happy to - I won't argue :)
If you do see another drop though you're more than welcome to PM me. I'll dig through a few things to see what the problem is.

For people using these Business accounts, how is the Twitch streaming?

It can vary to not working at wll to barely working. I have been compling about this for months, and all you get is a run around. This account also used to have issues with supersport and dstv, but they seems to be resolved, although sometimes there are still issues.

Was working great a few months ago. Since then it's been really iffy. There are days where it is flawless, and others where the video doesn't load. Not really into Twitch any more, so I'm not sure about recently.

Twitch has been admittedly a little inconsistent. When I've tested it always been pretty decent, but it depends on line quality. My tests always showed that it likes a good chunk of throughput. We did have some issues when our network was in need of upgrades mid-last year. Since we did major IPC upgrades, I haven't noticed any issues on Twitch.

You can always sign up a Free GB account and test Twitch performance on our network for yourself. The free GB is unshaped and should perform similarly to a Business account.

Thanks for the feedback. Last year in July I signed up for the 4Mbps Business package after trying the 1GB free account, and while Twitch worked flawlessly on the 1GB account, when i got the 4Mbps Business package you couldn't even stream on there.

After close to a month of working with your support team nothing changed so i canceled it.

So was curious as to if it had been fixed or was still an issue, as Twitch is something I use the most.

I definitely think it's improved dude :)
Replied to your PM earlier, I think it's best you get some first hand experience with it and take it from there.

I used to have no issues on twitch, till about August last year, since then I have had very inconsistent performance on my Business account regarding Twitch streams,

Also tried and tried with support and such but I've made the conclusion the issue is related to Afrihost and my ADSL, that being said on a different ADSL connection using an Capped account its flawless on a 10Mb connection.

In my case I can get full speedtests locally and decent ones internationally and still be unable to stream Twitch on 480p. Switching to a business account from Webafrica I can actually stream 480p.

My money is on a routing issue specifically based on my area.

Honestly just cant wait for a FTTH supplier to get going close to me.

for those struggling with Twitch though, I suggest you look into livestreamer, its a application that allows you to stream to a media player like VLC, this in turn allows you to set a large buffer for the stream, so a bad connection doesnt effect you as much.

International routing won't differ much across international routes, I'd like to take a look at the ticket - do you have the ref# handy? Twitch has definitely seen improvements so I'm sure we can give you a better experience here.

I've used that for a while as you can just pause for as long as you want and resume, but i set it to use a 10GB buffer and 10 concurrent connections which helps with certain ISPs. But will test the afrihost account later today.

Hehe have discussed this with you before , YNE-706-59917

like I said though its a bad combination of my ADSL connection and partly Afrihost, seeing as I am congested at night on the local DSLAM/Exchange, still getting atleast 480p on Webafrica and nothing at all on Afrihost is sad. But I have learned to live with it, that and the fact I get an average 10% packet loss on my connection due to the incompetence of Telkom, my best solution is for these FTTH companies to get going or Telkom upgrading my area to MSAN, which will probably happen in the next 10 years :(

I see the ticket hasn't been updated in some time - did we go over DNS servers at all?

I'm currently using the normal Afrihost DNS servers, played around a bit using a few I know, didnt do much, is there anything in particular I can try?

That latency on your second hop is climbing again... I've just sent you a PM with some test account details. This account is running close to maximum speed on my 4Mbps connection at home at the moment, so it will us a lot in narrowing down the problem.
