Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback - 2

Here is what one client said...
Wil graag hoor of jy dalk advies het.

Hoekom op aarde sal ons so sukkel? Dit kan nie die router wees nie kan dit? Afrihost het basies net ‘n oplossing nie so ek wil maar net hoor of jy weet van enigeiets wat ek nog kan doen om die fout te probeer opspoor.

And on moving on. It is a hell of a pain to move the line back to Telkom and then to an new ISP. But it seems that screwing clients are in the order of the day, so maybe time to jump ship...

Morning,

Do you have the contact details for the client that asked for advice? I would like to follow-up and find out why we couldn't provide him or her with a definite answer.

We try to keep the cancellation process as easy as possible, you just need to complete a cancellation request before the 25th of the month, and we'll move your ADSL line straight back to Telkom, you will not need to take any additional action.

Afriman, woman, Genie, Mutt and technician.

It seems that torrenting is an issue too from the few responses here. Maybe something to look into?

I know my mates who are not mybb forumites are having same - torrents are like e-toll payments - non existent.

Morning!

It does look like something was not quite as it should be over the weekend, I'm checking with our Team to follow-up on this.

With regards to your Exchange, congestion is a major issue at the moment, but I have heard that the Telkom budget for 2015 / 2016 has been approved, this usually means that they will now start dealing with congested or un-upgraded Exchanges. Not sure why the Telkom Tech was blaming your router though, as he should have been able to tell you if it was congestion issue on the Exchange.

Your line fault is definitely still open, and I'll make sure it remains open until we can get a permanent solution in-place from Telkom.

There was definitely something serious wrong, but this was not only over the weekend. I don't even bother calling support as to be totally honest its a waste of my time. How many more tracert tests do we have to post to prove that there are issues. Nothing ever gets sorted. I request a refund and never get a response. I posted earlier the results of my speed test over the weekend. I could barely browse, this is pathetic.

I've had a 20MB business account for a while now, and dropped it to a 800GB (400+400) capped account last week due to all the issues.

Logged a call to complain about the slow speeds, and even though I was quoting the threads here and provided speed test info I was asked to run more speed tests and more trace routes.

So, I'm cancelling my Afrihost completely and moving somewhere else. If I send a call, with links to the MyBB thread where Afri* is saying there are issues and you still want me to provide traces 4 days later, no, just no.

Maybe I'll come back in the future again, but honestly, an ISP is just something you should pay and forget about. Having to go through all these hoops just to get some sort of service while dealing with the AfriRunAround of traces and speedtests just isn't for me anymore.

:(

That's definitely not the experience we want our Users to have, some testing is necessary, but it sounds like our Team our could definitely have been more proactive with the results that you posted here.

Would you mind sending me the Ticket ID so that I can follow-up on your query? I want to check why the results you posted weren't referenced.

Ticket: HFY-939-87084

I understand they need traces done as anyone can just log calls and issues, but posting trace after trace gets a bit much.

Agree 100%, I think there seems to a general poor line of communication at Afrihost. If there are known issues, this should be common knowledge within the company, some departments seem to be oblivious of issues, I wonder if top management are the same, as it takes extremely long to get anything sorted out.

:(

Is this on your 057 **** *** line?

Do you have any throughput on the line at the moment?

Yes that line, just to post here took me about 5min

I did a speedtest. the ping came back at 272 to JHB and the test the got stuck at 0.07 download. I cant upload a screenshot at the moment :(

The line sync looked a bit off, I've reset the line, would you mind restarting your ADSL modem then testing again. If the speed and latency is still off would you mind running a traceroute to Afrihost.com.

I can agree with this, our communication hasn't been as great as it could be at times - between Support and our Clients - and we're working hard to improve it. A lot of changes have been implemented in this regard, but at times the Weekend and Night Shift guys can still be a bit out of the loop, this is a top priority for us.

Same boat on and off for a week now

and we are still expected to pay top dollar while you sort yourselves out? This is why I never bother calling support at anytime, utterly useless.
