Speeds and latencies are normal for 8Mbps:

P2P still refuses to exceed 5KB/s. Just to be absolutely sure I loaded a few very well seeded (but not contended) torrents with over half a million seeds between them, and the total speed was still less than 5KB/s. Streaming is working fine.

Newbie questions: Aside from the AH network challenges currently being addressed, I am recently seeing more evidence of local exchange congestion. Second trace route sometimes up to 100ms, other times down to 12ms. This is a new trend, about 3 weeks ago the trace routes were all good.
Are the widespread Telkom exchange upgrades recently mentioned on this forum now complete? I am kind of hoping they are still busy... Is there somewhere I can go on the web to check the status of my exchange upgrade if it is even planned?

Get a free account from WebAfrica/Crystal and do a test immediately before/after the AH test.
Then see if it's congestion.

Telkom has yet to start the latest round of Exchange upgrades, from what I understand.

Many Exchanges have been suffering from the load-shedding, and this is causing congestion-like symptoms. If you send me a PM with your ADSL line number I can try poke around see what I can find out.

Thanks. I can do this. What I naively think is congestion might of course be something else. I am going on the second hop which either gives "Request timed out" or is (currently) about 125ms. All of this is recent, as I say there was a time when all worked fine and the issue was elsewhere.

Thanks. I loaded the test account. The connection is vastly superior to my own account. Browsing is much snappier, and P2P works fine. Normally my speed tests start out crap and climb to the max speed as the seconds go by, but on the test account the needle flew to the max speed and remained there. Barely a minute into the P2P download my speed was over 800KB/s. Youtube is also significantly faster. I can normally only manage 720p without buffering, but on the test account 1080p streams very comfortably.

I think I found the issue affecting your P2P downloads.

Business Optimization is currently enabled on your Business Uncapped account, this will shape any P2P and HTTP downloads. You can disable this feature from your ClientZone, under Connectivity then by selecting your Business Uncapped account from the list.

This should unshape your account and get you up to speed within 15 minutes!

Why would business optimisation be enabled? It never used to be and I certainly wouldn't enable it.

The Axxess accounts are virtually identical to your Afrihost account, the only difference is the DNS... Could you switch your Afrihost DNS to 196.7.7.7 and 8.8.8.8 and see if that makes any difference.
