Still can't Skype.

I had to use my phone with 3G, which worked without any issues.

Strange... I'm checking with our Team if there are any issues with Skype at the moment, my account seems fine, but I just want to make sure this isn't a widespread problem.

Actually, even on the 17th of this month is a post saying that is isn't IPC.
#justsayin

There will be others that are more recent, but I can't be bothered to search.

I did point out in a post earlier tonight that there were a number of factors in play that were affecting performance, it is easy to say that we should have purchased additional IPC, but that may not have actually helped at all. This is once again why we are looking at two brand new PoCs to find out what the best way forward is.

Don't sidestep, this is not the point.

People have been saying it's IPC since March, and even as recently as the 17th you guys had no IPC issues. Now your boss said it is IPC issues.

So, we want to know where the miscommunication came from,

[1] You guys only figured out IPC was an issue yesterday. After months of tweaking and having the best experts in the world work on your network 24x7 (again, as posted multiple times by the Social team)
[2] The Social team did not know about IPC issues. Which means the Social team was being "misdirected".
[3] The Social team was aware of the IPC issues, but weren't allowed to confirm it here.

It's one of these.

And as Gian pointed out:

As I understand it the main question since I mentioned IPC is that we've been lying to you about these issues over the last while.

Have we been aware of an IPC capacity issue for months, and have we been hiding it and lying about it to you? No.

We did believe that the IPC was sufficient for our clients needs.

In my post I said for 'a variety of reasons we have not been able to upgrade our IPC to the the capacity we clearly need'

Hindsight is a perfect science and what I meant was that we miscalculated and we can see NOW that the IPC capacity was not enough given everything that happened.

We had access to the same information that Gian had, we thought that by getting our network management software and Deep-packet inspection software to run more efficiently we'd be able to get our network running at better levels.

You can't make a purse out of a pig's ear.

How does deep-packet help you? That implies shaping again.

This refers specifically to our Uncapped accounts, our shaping hasn't performed as well as it should, and DPI was one way of making sure that all P2P traffic was being classified correctly.

Can you confirm the capped & business accounts are being shaped now.

Gaming is a huge problem.

As is streaming.

Speedtest is now gloriously perfect.

So you knew that IPC was an issue, while denying it on the forum, and thought that your traffic manager will sort it out.

Gotcha.

Whatever you guys did, please just leave it alone. don't touch it AT ALL.....
Everything is working perfectly, youtube, downloads, haven't tested online gaming in a while, so not sure about that, thank you....

Latency was good during the day and has completely gone to **** tonight:

Wow... that post's from Feb though. I think a lot has changed since then.
Please review comms from my previous post, everything is answered and discussed there.

I asked the question of IPC 2 weeks ago and it was said it definitely wasn't IPC causing the latency issues it was some "routing" / "bandwidth management issue".

Lo and behold.

Today is a new day and today i look for a new ISP. I cannot carry on like this. I am working on my Vodacom 4G 2 Bars and it is working great.

AfriHost you are going to be owning me money. Also what is this crap that you close your call Center at 8:30PM when it is meant to be open to 12AM.

Also Online Support was down. This is now bull****.

Hey man, the only issue that you might have is that cancellations must be done before the 25th of each month....
Hopefully AH will accept the cancellation due to the poor performance and let you cancel after the 25th.....
Also, forum reps should at least be available till 10pm, so when there is an issue like this weekend that past then at least we can get some info, have the reps on a rotation basis....

Thanks for that info. The only thing is that AfriHost is the best ISP for accounts. I have been reading the FUP and other Terms on tons of ISP's and i do not want to move. BUT i need to move becuase of this slllllllllllllllllllooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww speeds.

All they need to do is upgrade over a weekend and the Monday it will be sorted. IT should not take so long to upgrade a network.

I don't believe it's as simple as that.....
Judging from the posts from the rep's earlier, it looks like AH is setting up two POC's at the moment and running some tests.....
Hopefully this sorts out the issue, I have no idea what POC stands for, I think it may be Packet Order Correction ( Google search turned up that result as well as many others ), I stand to be corrected by the many networking technical forumites here.....
Have you tried using a VPN, last weekend quite a few of us had to use a VPN so that we could use the AH network....

If Gian and AH Reps acknowledges on these forums that there is a problem with the network, where is the formal email communication? At the very least, business clients should know?

You guys need to be upgrading AHEAD of demand, not when demand has exceeded supply. This has happened again and again at AH. Somehow you guys still win Best Movie of the Year category at the Oscars, year after year.

More supply than demand.

Glad to hear it :D
Although I'm not entirely sure what's changed, but glad the experience is looking up for you!
