Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback - 2

I think we might have solved the AH capacity issue with our new turn based internet usage model.

Guys guys, hold on my turn now.

I need to kill the Skeleton King in D3. One slash at a time. Let me know when I can dial in again and have my second slash at him.

I love turn based games and especially D3.

lol. Yet no one is cancelling.

Already did. 2 telkom lines and 1 capped & 1 business uncapped cancelled. BUT I still need to use them for the month, can't really afford to buy another account. And the AH billing being in advance, I think I am entitled to try and get what I paid for.

lol. Yet no one is cancelling.

I think you will be surprised at the number of cancellations that will be put in closer to the 25th of the month – a lot of us are just waiting to see if things will improve before that date. The main problem is who else do you subscribe with? It seems as if most of the SA bandwidth has issues, either speed, contention/shaping, threshold issues.

I am shutting down now ... to quote an ISP in SA ... you will now have '' pure clean internet joy!! ''

Enjoy my share ..... and anyone with high speed internet boasting speeds above 512kbps will forfeit their turn tomorrow....

Shot!

I am also disconnecting my router now (just to be sure), you guys enjoy the extra bandwidth

Wonder If I need ICASA approval for the pidgeons/bats/hawks/eagles?
Any advice, anybody?

Popped over to the ICASA website to take a peek, but it requires a download .:eek:.... so s'pose I need a bat to find out if pigeons are legal ....

lol, you guys are funny, my cancellation has been finalized, just have to wait it out to the end of the month....

Guys, you have made my evening; some great comments and humour on the forum, even if we have non-existent internet a lot of us have still retained our sense of humour.
Thanks for the laughs
:) :)

Afrihost Business poor performance

Hi,

I've been doing some analysis of the Afrihost Business throughput on local vs international performance. It is quite clear that Afrihost, especially on the 17th has been suffering of terrible performance.

Test setup is an unloaded 10Mbit ADSL link (~15mbit/1mbit sync speed). Testing HTTP GET of a 10MByte file from an international server (hosted in Dallas TX) and a local server (hosted at MTNBusiness). Both servers have 1Gbit connections. The international server has been tested from the local server and achieves ~250Mbit/sec to the MTNBusiness-hosted server during peak time, which proves the performance issue is not "at the other end".

The local test is run and when it completes, the international test is run. The tests are done in 10 minute intervals.

Here are the results of the past two days (16 Oct 2014 and 17 Oct 2014):

afrihost-business-perf-20141017.jpg

Clearly there is an issue with international access speeds. Local is okay-ish, but performance still suffers during day-time hours and even local is not delivering 50% of what the line speed is capable of. This really should be an indicator that Afrihost Business is not business-ready, unless AH (and probably MTN) pull their pants up and fix things.

Local performance (and even intl) is great after midnight and before 7am in the morning. Hardly business operating hours.

Another slow start to the day ....

Edit ....

I note other ISP threads are having a similar discussion - the common being the Durban / Hillcrest / Reservior Hills sort of area .....

This is ridiculous. Any recommendations for an alternative business account from fellow forum members would be appreciated. Cancelling when I get home this afternoon.

Nope. So fast here I have to slow things down so I can browse...

Morning Guys!

Things were a bit worse than we expected yesterday, and this affected our users across our spectrum of ADSL products. I can however see that things have improved quite a bit, your accounts should be running a lot better at this point.

I am sure you have been told many times before, but we are pushing hard to get the upgrades in place and running as quickly as possible.

lol, like I said - all talk no action. 25th will come and go, and people will say they forgot or it's too hard to move.

You have absolutely no right to come and complain about anything if you willingly keep handing over money every single month already knowing what you are going to get.

Still seeing a large amount of packet loss when doing pathping to Diablo 3 servers. Ping is also very erratic constantly jumping into the 800 - 900ms range.
