Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback - 2

Different experience here, NNTP and P2P is moving along nicely at almost full speed, I'm a happy camper for now provided things don't change.....Prospecton Area, Durban...
It may just be your line or an issue with your account, just a thought.......

Glad to hear those services have improved. With additional capacity, downloads (not latency dependant) should have improved immediately. Other services may be occasionally rocky as we calibrate the East network.

I think the issue here is that we are being accused of applying policies that we are not, and that is going around in circles. So all the talk of spinning and PR is really what is creating more confusion and become the focus of the thread rather than actual feedback and engagement. If we did implement a policy that contravened the product limits we would say so, communicate to affected clients and change our sales literature. However, this is simply not what is happening, so building new forms of rhetoric isn't really making any progress for anyone, in my opinion :(

Still SPINNING, hey?

Hello,

So let's see how we did today:

View attachment 159908

Not so good then. Although this (and the graphs I posted for Thursday/Friday) does show that IPC is not the only problem - there does seem to be a serious issue with the international component as well. Are the upgrades going to address only IPC or are there other things afoot?

--deckert

Seeing that your profile shows Centurion, I think you would still be affected by the North network not yet being upgraded. Once that is effected, I expect performance will improve across the board.

If there is local contention, international services will also be affected, so it's difficult to say if that is a separate issue. We have seen some international issues but major improvement prior to this, so we'd need to see the upgrades through before we can assess any possible international performance issues.

Should be a 4 Mbps account ....

As you now have extra capacity, I have mailed support to sort this out.

The last hop of the trace could be a network be an internal data centre issue, it seems strange that it's happening consistently.

Let me know what support say, otherwise let's see what we can do about this :(

If there is something that is cousing me to cancle Afrihost more then anything else is your spinning .

Hi Afriman

I am on a business uncapped account and since midnight my NZB are crawling.

Can you please investigate as this is not supposed to happen on 'Business DSL - Unshaped, Unmetered, Prioritised Perfect for the office, or for the power internet user! No shaping (guaranteed) and prioritised for the best performance with unique features to protect your business!'

Afrihost business accounts are never shaped.

Looks like your dns server still has problems. Pages won't load and you need to refresh it 4 or 5 times before it does.

That shouldn't be the case. We're generally seeing pretty good performance but I know they have been experimenting with the right levels for shaping (for Uncapped, not Business accounts) etc, so they may have made changes or seen the level it set too high, etc. We should see the East performing as normal in the next day or so when they get this exactly right.

But I am on a Business account so should not be subject to shaping.

It looks like an MTN issue as ussual:

Interesting after around 400 pages probably more, the same questions still get asked and the same answers are still given. :)

It's a little unusual to see slow performance after midnight. Which news service are you using? Is it the Afrihost server?

Still seeing packet loss.

Forget even trying to get a straight answer on that one.
All you will get is yet another round of hooha excuses as to why we pay a premium for a supposed premium product, yet get crap service.
Contention excuse number 732 coming up.

Looks like your dns server still has problems. Pages won't load and you need to refresh it 4 or 5 times before it does.

There shouldn't be issues with DNS, at least I am not aware of them. Does this change if you switch DNS?
