Hey, would be really great if you would accompany these posts with any tests or results that might indicate what you are experiencing. It's a little hard to work with otherwise![]()
Not sure if you saw AfriMan's post, but can you please add some data to your posts so we can try and identify what's going wrong. Can't really go with much on this description.
I probably have the same issue as this guy. It is, once again, an MTN issue.
Getting between 2MB and 6MB on my 20MB Uncapped Business account. Constantly getting timeouts on international pings. Switched to MTN data card, same thing. Switched to Axxess account (also MTN backed), same thing. Switched to Vodacom data card, everything is fine. Switched to other non-MTN ISP accounts, everything is fine.
I have been running through these tests all morning, and have confirmed with a friend at a different location that he is experiencing the same issue.
Really sorry to hear about the poor experience
Are you seeing this on Mobile or DSL though?
Everywhere man. Mobile, ADSL, everything. Any method of connection that has any affiliation to MTN is suffering.
No coincidence that the the MTN backed ISPs have basically identical notices posted about "capacity issues."
Mobile and DSL run of very different backbones/ routes - so very strange you're seeing a poor experience across the board
Have you tried our Afrigreen? We've got the POC network in place, for DSL, to tackle the current network issues.
Dunno but MTN is an absolute shambles, and they are dragging good companies down with them.
Unfortunately the POC networks are not an option. Management's patience has officially run out with Afrihost and we are moving at the end of the month.
I do hope Afrihost manages to sort out these issues. I have long recommended you as the best ISP in the country to friends, but we can't keep going on like this.
Really sorry to hear you'll be leaving us, I'll gladly arrange an Afrigreen account for you to test - we've generally seen some good feedback there.

Good feedback? I think rather stay away... my last query was brushed off and we'll see what the response is for this incident...

Actually, MTN has a pretty good network in place. You cannot compare your experience using a reseller to using them directly.
I just replied to your query on the POC thread. Let's rather keep this convo there, so we don't confuse this thread with AfriGreen feedback![]()
Afriman, my problem is on BOTH Afrihost AND Afrigreen accounts. you keep ignoring the AH account like it's not an issue/insignificant. Which made me question what is being done with the AH issues...
