Does anyone know the usual turn around time for a fault to be logged with Telkom?

What are the communication procedures? I had to phone to get my reference number for the fault since I never got the SMS; I also haven't received any communication related to my fault being logged with Telkom or anything like that. Feel a little in the dark.

Yesterday I checked on my clientzone and tested the line, it returned a sync rate but no other values for SNR and attenuation.

BF4 China Rising is out this weekend and I need to do 4gig update but I might be forced to pick my nose instead... this is not how I wanted to spend the long weekend.

Torrents are harder on the network due to all the open connections. Core routers can only handle so many open connections.

Correct - NNTP is much cleaner cos everything happens on the newsserver - not the local DSL (user level) which means our network has to cope with the multiple seeders and leechers that come with torrents :(

Did you log the fault through us or directly with Telkom? If we logged it you should definitely receive an SMS from us and sometimes you'll get SMS from Telkom as well acknowledging the fault.

Generally Telkom say they resolve faults within 96 hours. Thereafter the fault can be escalated to higher levels. However everything seems to be especially slow at the moment due to Telkom still processing upgrades and prepping for the network freeze coming up. So it's difficult to give any guarantees right now :(

Drop me a PM if I can help you trace all the info :(

My line is with you so I logged the fault with you.

I will send you a PM with the details, any assistance you can offer would be most appreciated.

Isn't downloading equally illegal?

Well, it is punishable by law for you to share copyright material, but if im not mistaken, there is not much that can be done about possessing copyright material

It's OKish. Still much better than what it was like at the beginning of the week, though.

Hi AfriGuy,

Please explain to me. I am on the 4MB uncapped package for R399, and want to move to the business uncapped 4Mb package for R697. Why is the DSL+Data bundle R797? It's only a R100 more. A DSL line is R279.

Please assist.

Its just how Afrihost works! They give great savings when you move your line over to them. Also, I personally prefer my line with Afrihost as it means I just have to push a button in clientzone and it finds and attempts to fix any issues. A port reset is just a click away compared to an hour phonecall away (my experiences with telkom).

I'm getting better performance on my parents MWEB non-shaped 2meg uncapped account these days.

I am at my parents house over the holiday season and they are owners of a 2meg uncapped mweb account (on a 4meg line, Telkom upgrades) My usual modes of operation on the internet is gaming and gaming related content consumption (twitch.tv, steam, YouTube, battle.net)

In my 1 week of being here I have switched between my own 2meg business account and my parents' 2meg standard MWEB account. And right out the bat MWEB is better at streaming twitch and YouTube (never buffer 480p). Both accounts are fine for gaming but I would give Afrihost the edge in terms of lower pings. I also give Afrihost the edge on Download speeds (ill put this down to unshaped-ness)

I really wish that my twitch would work fine. It sucks back in my CPT house and it sucks in my parents' PE house where the line stats are far better (good tracerts, 30 SNR, high theoretical sync speed) but still.

If twitch worked man, I would be such a happy Afrihost customer. One more thing, DSTV Online also stinks on any non-mweb account, I wont burn Afrihost for that one though.

We like passing on discounts and savings to our clients, and bundling the data is one of the ways we do that :)
