Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

There could be a few reasons for this, the number of connections, news server selection, whether or not the content is still there. A couple things to look at :)

What's your current NNTP setup looking like at the moment?

I tried with SAnzb and Grabit
4 Connection to an episode that is current, i came out this morning
news.afrihost.co.za

With bouth my speeds are very unstable, like torrents use to be on a nornal uncapped account. Now torrents are just about account speed. Can it be becuase of the 1Mbps account on the 2Mbps line and the QoS need some fine tuning on your side?

Woke up this morning to a dead ADSL line.

I have reported a fault with AH because my ADSL line is through them.

And now I wait...

Not great seeing this, do you notice this frequently or was it only today/ this morning?
Hi AfriGuy
Thanks for your response.
No, its been like this, especially in the morning during business hours, for a few weeks now. It seems to improve as the day goes by - e.g. this morning at about 9h00 I was sitting on 40k, its now 13h29 and it has jumped up to 6Meg, and now its on 10meg for a few seconds, and then bounces around between 4Meg and 8Meg.

This is driving me nuts - Lord, grant me patience, but hurry :)

QoS should be fine, the Business accounts are completely unshaped. Try 5 connections on the server, how old is the content you're trying to pull off Usenet?

I'm sure our team will have this sorted out for you in no time, I'm keeping my fingers crossed it's a quick fix!

This is really odd indeed :(
What's your latency looking like throughput the day?

On my capped account i get 1.8Mbps Looks like you drew a line with a ruler on the graph

Capture.JPG NNTP on 1Mpbs Uncapped and the next red block is NNTP on the capped account running at full line speed

Strange, what do your torrents look like?
Are you 100% sure your protocol prioritisation isn't on?

Well that makes perfect sense? Capped account is probably using your full line speed of 2Mbps, while uncapped is limiting to 1Mbps. However - I agree with you - 1Mbps should be faster than 85Kbps on a 2Mbps line!

Opening the torrent client, finding peers and flying. The yellow is upload

Yea it is of

Edit: See what i meen it is better for me to get my episode via torrent on 1Mbps account than NNTP

Last question, I promise :)
How old is the content you're downloading?

This morning :P

I know this might be quite a change for a few of you - but do what I do, Just sign up on showrss.info and add your personal RSS feed to your torrent client.

When I wake up in the morning, all my series from the past day are downloaded :D It works really well

Plus - if you want to go a bit further, do what I did, just use theRenamer to auto sort and add your series to your plex server. This means that you do not have to do any downloading - as it does it by yourself (overnight too, which helps lesson the strain on the network)

Tx, i see there is a tut on youtube. I just thought torrents are more strain on the network than NNTP. I will play tonight tx :)

No difference at all. Also, episodes are released ~12am, so this runs the downloads when the network is not under strain 12-6ish

Torrents are harder on the network due to all the open connections. Core routers can only handle so many open connections.
