Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

It's not supported on any of their products as it's not available here. Which is really stupid since it's just data on a port.

I think the issue is with the connection between them and the vpn/proxy/dns. Have you tried multiple providers :-(

Yes, Telkom Uncapped works great. The free data from FNB works great, but you blast through it in a few minutes :D Afrihost does work, but even on their business uncapped you aren't guaranteed to get HD, and I'm on a 10Mb business account on a 20Mb sync.

Worked perfectly fine on Mweb before. And it shouldn't make any difference on a business account.

Okay... I see... Afriman should be able to help you when he gets back :)

Yes. Because they "DONT DO ANY SHAPING!!!!"

I am terribly dissapointed to be looking for a new provider. Until something changed a while back, Afrihost Business Uncapped was absolutely unbeatable. Worth ever penny of the R1k a month.

No, I've asked them in the past for help and I get told I need to ping the Hulu servers for them. ICMP doesn't even use the same port as Hulu/Netflix for traffic so it's not going to tell them jack except the route it takes.

I use the account for NZBs, which is fine, and if I watch Hulu if it's HD then great if not I download the HD NZB. I just stick with them because of the bundle price, although now with Telkom offering 25% it might be a good idea to look at that package again.

Getting 610KB/s on my 6mbps line. Perhaps something else up? Area dependant perhaps?

No, I get 10Mb pretty much any day. My exchange doesn't get congestion as it is used for the FTTH trial. Swopped to FNB and it was working. Afrihost in Durban has been having issues recently with performance but when you query them everything is fine.

I just signed up for your uncapped business dsl service, having previously been an mweb premium customer. You claim that the business dsl service is unshaped and unthrottled, but this does not appear to be the case. I have been attempting to download via emule and have had absolutely pitiful download speeds. As soon as I switched over to my mweb premium account, I started getting good download speeds again in emule. Are you shaping protcols like emule or other p2p protocols?

Yup, go to the new clienzone (http://clientzone.afrihost.com/en) - then open your business uncapped connection, click on protocol prioritization and click disable :)

Protocol Prioritization is a feature that was requested which shapes P2P - but it is completely optional and can be turned off at any time :)

Can someone please tell me why I'm still paying R597 for my 2mb business uncapped bundle, when the new is price is R497? I forget the lame excuse they gave me when I first raised this issue.

Live chat Afrihost support :) They will help you out - it's just because you are paying for a 4Mbps line, and they just need to drop you down to 2

Ai I was afraid of this. Why am I paying more for a line that was upgraded by Telkom free of charge?? If that's the case, I'll gladly pay the extra 100 bucks.

You had a 2Mbps line, but telkom upgraded it to 4mbps (therefore your cost is the same). You would just need to drop the line to 2Mbps to save the R100.

If you want 4Mbps, you will have to pay for 4Mbps data - just check the bundle pricing on the site :)
