Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

I have heard all the excuses from your consultants, congested exchange, line fault, contention ration, I have complied with all the tests required...My local downloads are able to maximise the throughput on my line but my international downloads I tend to lose about 150-200Kbps...Streaming videos stutters on 720p and 1080p...there is something definately wrong with my connection, please sort this out, I have this problem for a week now...10Mb business account uncapped, last chance before I leave...

We need to be able to replicate the issue. If other clients are able to use the same services in similar conditions, then we do have to start looking at individual factors specific to each client or common between clients having the same experience.

Well I have tried a few trial accounts, and the videos on Supersport play without any issues, change back to Afrihost and the streaming starts. All I do on my router is change the log on details, so all other variables are the same. I am not the only user who has complained about this. TwitchTV is another site that basically never works with Afrihost.

I can only promise that we will keep trying to find the problem and work towards a solution to improve your experience. When I tested YouTube performance on a 4Mbps line I was able to view 720p without buffering and I was able to max my line on downloads from EU server.

We'll definitely keep testing to see if there are areas where our network is under-performing.

As I mentioned on the previous post I answered, we have to keep troubleshooting until we can isolate and replicate what you're experiencing. If you're happy to do that, I'll be happy to make sure our guys keep working on this.

Everything ran at full line speed (440KBps) at anytime of the day. It's wonderful!

However the reason i got this package is because i was told the business account is suppose to run the same but never worse then the free 1GB account, but while Twitch works flawlessly on the capped accounts, on the business account it is impossible to use even on "Low" at times.

I had a ticket open with Afrihost since the 1st along with multiple phone calls and hour plus long discussions with the tech teams.
I gave every bit of data and evidence they required and eventually it was moved to the point that they are waiting for feedback from MTN.

However since Twitch was one of the main reasons i signed up for it, i have canceled the account.

I give all credit to the support teams as they genuinely tried very hard to help, but as i said above it has got to the point of waiting for MTN so they cant do much there.

If you are looking for an account to stream Twitch, then this is not the one.

The day they fix the Twitch streaming on the business packages, i will be back with them.

Interesting the post just below this one, use with the same issues, also in Cape Town. My issues are not isolated to my account. I am willing to help test (again), but it needs to be resolved, as I have reported these issues now since I have been with Afrihost, and at the price I am paying I should get far better service.

If you still have the account could you please post a tracert from the business account to twitch as well as from the capped account? In fact could anyone from the South or wherever this problem is occurring do this? There as been mention that the route the data takes is different. It could help identify where the problems are creeping in.

I think it's fair to say we've also done a fair bit of troubleshooting on Twitch, trying to replicate and improve client's experience. We're still committed to doing all the tests we can to see what can be improved.

Twitch may block ICMP traffic. I can also reach the site but having problems tracing to it. I'm pretty sure I have been able to do that in the past. You can see we leave MTN's network and Level3's CDN, so it's somewhere in Twitch's hosting provider peering/routing.
