Speeds are crap today for some reason. Getting 4Mbit speeds and below on my 8Mbit account. Speed tests are around 2.5Mbps. Have rebooted router. Hopefully things will go back to normal very soon, because I intend to stream some HD BBC iPlayer this evening.

You definitely should not be seeing slow speeds at the moment. We're seeing good performance on our monitoring.

Have you run any diagnostics to see what could be happening? Maybe start with our Network Test App so we can see how your latency looks.

I seem to get a bit further than others on the forum, but this isn't always the case... will test again later on and see if there's a difference ;)

Looks like it could be Twitch's peering with Level 3, which is the CDN that most networks peer with overseas.

Notice how the routing is slightly different for the same trace? And we are both in Table View? (well, I'm in Sunningdale, but it should be the same IPC).

When I do a trace to youtube.com, then I get the same first 5 hops as Kwerty.

Why would the routing be different????

Morning guys

Really concerning to see posts about streaming last night :(
I was on a bit of a YouTube binge last night and didn't notice any issues on my end. Did you guys manage to grab any tests?

I tried to watch Hulu and eventually just switched off cause it was unwatchable.

I am tired of you guys asking for tests all the time. This is the same issue all the time.

You guys are just using this generic delay tactic "Grab Test/Grab Results" and nothing ever gets done about this.

This has been an issue for months and months and AH has done F ALL about it.

I am also cancelling.

Why the F**k should we pay for a crap service like this when all that happens is us getting angry as we can't even stream video.

I will gladly pay for service that works but not this crap AH provides us with.

You should sell you account as "FOR DOWNLOADING ONLY" and have in big bold letters "IF YOU REQUIRE VIDEO STREAMING PLEASE USE ANOTHER ISP"

Youtube is local so doesn't count.

It's your international streaming that's an issue.

All my tests show that EU streaming is good, we get great line throughput on shaped and unshaped products. We are still testing and investigating whether US based streaming (throughput) can be more consistent, as that is probably where some of these issues are resulting. For straight file downloads we're seeing excellent throughput from the EU, where our international links terminate. We're looking to see where US service can be improved.

Just watching throughput on a traffic monitor does not to end user experience relate. I will test from another 10 meg ADSL line later today in JHB.

My feeling exactly, we post tracert results for weeks, months, and that's where it seems to end? I have complained about this for I don't know how long, and there has been zero improvement. The IPC capacity issues were blamed at one stage, and now?

ya streaming/youtube very unstable

downloads are all good

and i do streaming 80% of the time so its irritating :/

Hi guys...
Got connect to Afrihost 4mb business unshaped uncapped option. But my download speed does not seems to be consistent, Some times its OK while other times it crawls... Doing a line test in client zone says everything is OK. So not sure whats might be causing it.

Have you turned off your "business prioritization" in the AH CP?

I have been doing sample speed tests for July, because like you, I had inconsistencies.

Latency seems to be constant at 55ms,
Download, on a 4 Meg line varies from 2272 kbps to 3305 kbps and average 3030 kbps - so essentially getting 75% of what I am paying for.

I will continue to monitor then chat to AH again at month end.

Having exactly the same issue.

I am on 20Mb business uncapped at the moment, and did some logs for Afriman for Hulu.

But even on 20Mb I cannot get a constant HD stream, falls to SD for 30 seconds every two minutes or so.

Will be trying out ISPs in July. AH is good because their business accounts dont have limits, but streaming is important to me and for 2k a month this should be working

Yes, there are better options out there, you just have to look :)

@Afriman, 10 days has passed and the critical care team has not received any feedback from MTN with regards to the latency spikes within the MTN servers, I have had enough, I don't think this problem will get fixed, time to jump ship...
I will be looking for another ISP but if the mybroadband forum members know of a good ISP, please inbox me...Thanks
