Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

I haven't tested Hulu extensively, but I'll admit that at times it hasn't been great. I don't know if they don't peer he same way as Netflix or just have a smaller web presence in terms of mirror servers. We're also looking at whether it's affected by their routing within the US.

UnoTelly has the Dynamo option where you can pick how you connect to Hulu - Primary, Backup or Direct.

I tried all 3 of them, and all 3 of them behaved the same :( I know we did the tests in the past, but I'm kinda bummed that even 20MB isn't enough to stream constant HD.

It should be. I have tested general streaming on a 20Mbps line on Capped and Uncapped and gotten excellent throughput, especially in the EU/UK. We need to isolate what's common in clients who are getting a poor experience :(

What device are you using? I'm going to sideload the Hulu app on my fireTV and use that, since it seems that the built in application requires a lot higher throughput than the normal Play Store version.

This is with no other devices connected to the router except my PC, and no downloads in the background.

If I can chime in on the Hulu issues..

I've found that certain devices/apps have better playback than others. I get zero stuttering/buffering when watching Hulu on my Xbox 360 (except for the odd advert now & then, but thats ok), and it stays at 720p for about 90% of the time.

My WDTV Live however... eish. Lagging, buffering, stuttering, farting..

I've only tested on a PC thus far, don't have an internet ready TV to test :)

The test results we see definitely help us, and where we can replicate these results on our side we escalate them immediately to our team and/or MTN. Where we can't, we have to work with that individual client to try to figure out what element in their signal flow could be casing the artefacts they're experiencing.

But we do tests, post the results and then nothing happens, the problems we report remain, this has been going on for months now. Currently the business account is good for downloading and basic browsing and that's all.

I completely agree with this. Every time there is an issue and we provide test results, All that support replies is that "We have recreated the port & stabilize the line. Try again and provide feedback". We provide feedback and test results again. Support give the same answer. So it just keeps on going around in loop rather than the problem being actually resolved.

I definitely don't believe that is true. We've tested extensively based on reports that we receive here and on other channels and business throughput is pretty good at the moment, since we've upgraded our IPC recently and we're managing our bandwidth effectively.

Twitch isn't doing too well today... Everything else is blisteringly fast... Just Twitch...

Is there like a problem with the international link capacity between Twitch servers and Afrihost, or is it intentionally throttled?

Brilliant service otherwise

We have battled with Twitch in the past, but some clients report that it works great. Is it slow on all streams or one particular stream?

But the issues with Supersport, dstv on demand and Twitch TV remain, and I am not the only one on these forums to report these issues. The ipc upgrade did nothing to resolve these issues.

Latency seems to be high for a local ping.

Aslo remember that actual throughput depends on your line capability (less Telkom overheads for managing the throughput on the line). Getting 3.3Mbps would be considered average.

Sure - will mail thru to Oscar as discussed.

We see a lot of mixed results around the site you've mentioned. If there's a central point of feedback, via email is best, I can have this looked into with our team.
Have we run troubleshooting with you before?
