Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

Well, so far so good. Out of interest I swapped over to my OW Gold account, got stuck on 63 kb/s on the same torrent...
Business Uncapped... Full SPEED :D

Glad I gave it a try. Yes I know I am now paying for two accounts + my normal Telkom account but I want something that is going to work for me. So far, this seems to be the one. Early days yet though...

I am thinking of moving over from mweb to Afrihiost Business, how are the speed after hours? My wife will be using the account mostly during the day, and then I will when I get home. Mweb has been ok, until; recently where everyday there are issues.

Works great for me 24/7. Afrihost allow VPN's on the business accounts, so you could always run BTGuard to guarantee good performance.

Can we get an update on these accounts? :) I'm thinking of switching over too (4 Mbps)

Nope, but they can shape afterhours if network demand is under presure, but never experience any of that to date!
I'f only had the account for a month now, but never noticed any hickups yet and I use the line fro 7am -12 pm

Great. I think I will sign up. Can I sign up for a business package, test it for a few days and downgrade again immediately if it doesn't suit my needs? (Assuming that the billing will also be adjusted accordingly)

Certain changes are immediate others are at the beginning of the month.
Upgrades are usually instantly, but downgrades I think only effective at the start of the new month.

Is anyone using Unotelly? Tried it out today, and speeds were appalling. Couldn't stream an SD movie on Netflix. Youtube was even slower than usual. And what's the deal with Hulu? The selection is very poor. Does Hulu Plus add a lot more stuff? If it did, surely they should show you what you stand to gain?

Last two evenings have been awful, what is going on

Just received confirmation from the MTN network engineers that everything from the IPC on to the MTN network is in order. It appears that the problem is on the Telkom network and may be exchange related, but we have yet to receive feedback from Telkom.

My internet is working fine. Cut out just now, but restarting the router got it back up. Looks like my previous issues are gone.

Is the 4MB package limited to 4MB? If you have a higher line speed, can speeds ever exceed 4MB, i.e. during off-peak times?

On OpenWeb 4MB Gold, speeds often exceed 4MB on my 6MB line, at least after hours, they do.

I see there is a 6MB option @ R100 extra pm. I'm wondering if it is worth the extra.

No DSL account should give speeds faster than the lower of line or connection speed. I have the 6Mbps Afrihost business account and it's pretty good, although I think I'm going to downgrade to the 4Mbps account soon. Only multiple downloads in a download manager or P2P app seem capable of achieving full speed. The vast majority of internet activity occurs at speeds below 400KB/s for me.

Is R897pm correct for the 4MB Business bundle (with ADSL line included)? It seems out of kilter with other packages on the page. If I choose this and bundle my ADSL line with it and then find i'm billed differently, I won't be too impressed. Can an Afrihost consultant confirm the price on this page?

Your ADSL line subscription must be with Afrihost.
That is the bundled price yes, AH ADSL line rental + 4Mbps Business uncapped
You will pay R697 for Business 4Mbps data only, if you do not Bundle with Afrihost

I pay R1297 for the bundled 10Mbps package.
Of course you still have to pay Telkom for telephone line rental.

I understand all that, but if the price is correct, i would effectively be paying R200 for my ADSL line rather than R300 on the other business bundles.
