I am thinking of moving from the 2mb Home Uncapped account to a 2mb uncapped Business account. Would you guys recommend this? What has the line speeds been like over the past 2 weeks or so. It has been horrendous on the home uncapped accounts. Thanks guys

Like you I was getting frustrated with the home uncapped shaping so I moved to the 2meg business uncapped.

Data Used: 23.49 GB
Average Daily Usage: 11.75 GB
Average Monthly Usage: 775.99 MB

Those are my stats since the beginning of the month, I think the line sat idle for a few hours the other morning but otherwise it has been running maxed out 24/7. There was a hiccup last night but I don't know if ADSL was the issue or if all teh seeds disconnected. All I know is that I start to download a 40min episode and its done before I am finished with the episode I was watching.

Gaming performance has been perfect. Played BF4 last night and the only issues were caused by the MWEB servers. Was even playing on international servers with a 200ms ping and it was MORE THAN PLAYABLE.

This is a product I can seriously recommend to you Type RSA. Go to clientzone now and do the upgrade.

Thanks for the feedback. I have moved my account over. What is your ping like in games. BF3, etc. Local servers

Local BF3 pings very rarely go past 40ms unless the server is taking strain. Dota 2, I play on EU servers so the ping is around 230ms. this line is the perfect combo of great speed for downloads and great pings for games.

I must say, I haven't noticed any degradation in service over the past week. Everything is still running well.

Only getting 450 - 500kbps on the 10MB Uncapped and Unshaped Business ADSL. Unacceptable speeds :(
My OpenWeb account peaks at 1.6MBPS download over FTP so my line is not at fault

I would be happy if Afrihost shaped blatant P2P traffic during the day, the issues with the business uncapped accounts is simple, people are abusing the service and Afrihost have over contended their uplinks.

We don't believe the issue is over-subscription. If this were the case, we would have seen a gradual increase is consumption, consistent with signup increases. But that is not the case. It may be coincidence or a tipping point around the release of iOS7, but we saw a massive increase in demand and that is slowly decreasing (much slower than we'd like).

We are still hopeful that demand will continue to subside but we're also exploring other options going forward to ensure that we can meet the demand at the best possible level of quality and service.

Thanks for the re-assurance Legend :). Why is the Business accounts 'unmetered' instead of 'uncapped' - forgive me for the noob question :o

Unmetered is a term used overseas more often than here, or specifically mostly for server hosting. It's like unlimited uncapped. Although Afrihost's uncapped is already "uncapped".

Loads better tonight

I am not sure what is causing the latency spikes...? Any help please?
