Anyone else having DNS issues?
Hi Afriman
Just a quick comment...
I have been on this 2Mbs Business Unshaped Uncapped account for 1 week today... and it has been 100% perfect.
Apart from a twitch.tv hiccup, not a single stutter or issue. Full throttle 24/7.
The most awesome part of this whole new setup, is that it requires no management of any sort from me... I do not have to babysit what is done and when on this line now. Even during office hours I do not have to delay any updates or Dropbox syncs and such... no more having to choose either one or the other online activity... they can ALL be done at the same time and without any prolonged "shaping" penalty as before. I do not have to leave my modem off for 30 minutes every other day any more to be able to browse again during the week... in fact, nothing has had to be done at all over the past 7 days, no nursing intervention, no stress, no troubleshooting fuss, nothing at all... and it has just worked.
If this remains just like it is, for the foreseeable future... well, as i have said before, you will find an almost evangelical me praising this product.
THIS is the interwebz just as it should be.
Quick question, is it possible to download while gaming on the 2mb business uncapped?
Watching closely .... I may just go this route too .............

Any news regarding ticket XNJ-262-82351 yet? Been without internet for 40 hours now.
Becoming a bit unacceptable now.
Is it a line/data fault?
Hi again people,
Thx a million AfriMan, Chevron and Zertop!
I turned protocol prioritisation off, and it is working like a charm!
I read about this feature before, but thought it was 'turned-off' by default.
Have a good weekend all!

Is something up in the Edenvale area. My ADSL died about 4PM for 20 mins. Since it came back on it is chronically slow. Having to resort to 3G.
Still waiting for my line sync rate to be changed... 11 hours later
Youtube still buffers like mad at 480p.......
And there I thought everything would be fine after this whole crap episode, yet streaming video buffering still sucks as badly as what it was before. How come others can stream 720p or even 1080p with no issues on a 4Mb line, yet we still sit with issues?
Ya dude. I don't mind issues. They happen. What I mind is lack of support and AH don't seem to shine in this area. Not had a response to anything via any medium.
Friday night is my jamming session on line with my mates. Was really peeved that I had to give it up last night. Looking like I will have to can tonight too.
Sigh...
Trying WebAfrica in a mo. Just need to top up my account quick. If that works - then an AH issue. If it does not work, then I will swap out my router and see if that could be the issue. If still no resolve then it is out of my control and have to wait for some support person somewhere to look into it.
All my Roku's are behaving funny with this dodgy internet too. Even when using Plex, the Roku keeps popping up with "Please check internet connectivity", so I am taking flak from my family too.
Resynced the line speed back up to 8Mb in Clientzone and Youtube buffering issues are almost gone.
Screw you Telkom, your tech was supposed to be at our place within an hour of him phoning me on Thursday morning. Guess what, I am still waiting.
All the useless prick did was drop the line speed down to 4Mb. I resynced it back to 8Mb, and just you dare drop it down again without actually physically checking the lines and connections.
I have sent an email to the Critical Care dude who is helping me. Not impressed at all.
My problem appears to be resolved.
Support tested and did something and my ping had dropped to equal my WebAfrica account.
The dropouts were not ISP related however. I spend hours testing every ethernet connection in the house. Started at the Netgear 16 port in my rack and worked through the house. Found the problem on the 6th 8 port switch that connects the kids rooms.
My daughter had unplugged her ethernet connection to go sit in the lounge with her notebook. My 9 year old boy plugged it into the switch (so both ends in the same switch). Sigh... Removed the cable and all is stable again.
Thanks to the guys that offered me accounts to test with. Some real awesome peeps on this forum!
Please could 4mbps users check their routers. Mine is syncing at 3072. Come back from shopping to find my connection unable to even browse MyBB. Have to use my phone to post this.
BS. Unless Afrihost are purposely given lower priority than unbundled ADSL. If this is the case then I'd rather move providers.
I had a similar experience when moving my line to Afrihost. My sync rate didn't drop but my line performed as if it were a 2Mbps line... No amount of troubleshooting could provide a reasonable explanation for what had transpired.
Moved my line back to Telkom with the assistance of AfriMan who had it expedited. Once the line was officially back under Telkom's management (2 days or so) my internet experience was back to normal.
