Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

That sounds more likely to be line or area specific. Usage on the network could never really be that consistent, it would fluctuate all the time.

What do traceroutes show at that time?

Trace routes sometimes indicate minor exchange congestion (20-40ms first hop) during the slow periods, but a router reboot takes the first hop down to the usual 9ms.

My internet didn't cut out last night though fortunately. The wobbly period lasted about 20 minutes.

Pretty odd. That kind of stuff I think could be linked to DNS issues. But we'd need to test further to confirm :(

Will keep checking today to see if the issue continues, if it does, I'll contact you.

After being extremely happy with the line finally working properly, I now wonder if iBurst account department people have started working for Afrihost....

Sitting with a disconnected line because a support email was answered two days after I sent it. Yes, two days to get a reply on a support ticket.
Afriman, I was happy that the line was sorted out and did not cancel my accounts. Now I have serious second thoughts....

resetting the router re-establishes sync, but you'll probably find that if it's a congested exchange, everyone else sees a spike in latency while yours improves and then gradually it settles into a rhythm and your latency slowly rises. :(

Unless it's a syncing line issue, but unusual that it's time based, unless there electromagnetic interference somewhere like an electric fence causing the issue.

Sorry to hear this saga is still continuing. I get so relieved when you post that all is well.

Did you manage to get this sorted now? If not, please PM me and we'll work on this together.

Any network issues at the moment? My blazing fast line is now capping out at ~1mb/s international

Will the business packages have a price drop sometime soon? Please say yes?

I'm all for this, but please don't let it happen if they're going to increase contention.

Also, done some diagnostics. It's just to Hetzner that the packet loss is happening:

Seems something is up with the international link

There are no issues that I am aware of. Are all speeds generally slow, or are you just seeing this on international (or one specific international server)?

I can't make any promises, but we are going to review our prices when Telkom upgrades complete mid-Feb. Also, I'm hoping the IPC cuts will give us some space to make our already awesome deals really smash the competition out there. But I trust in our management team that they have something really amazing planned :)

Maybe an issue with their hosting network. Seems fine while it's still on our network :(

Gave my router a kick in the pant over ssh ( Anyone ever tried rebooting a router with elinks? ) and this is sorted. My router was to blame, though last night was a network issue. Hetzner was kind enough to change my host's route, and that resolved the issue there.
