Almost 50% packet loss on 41.181.139.109 ! That's on the MTN network.

Both account types are both unshaped products and sit on the same bandwidth priorities. If you've noticed a difference in the two please PM me with some comparison results so I can bring this up with our team.
Very strange that latency is being affected though.

I have had open tickets for both my Dad's line and mine for the last 2 weeks. I have supplied tests over and over again, when I originally asked for a physical port change. Once I got it to the point that Afrihost submitted a request to Telkom, all of a sudden, on the same day, BOTH lines started working again. Because of this, when the Telkom technician called me from the exchange to change the port, we thought it best to leave it as is (working, that is). All was fine for a few days, and again this Sunday at 15:00, my line dropped (just like 2 weeks ago when all this started). When it came up again, the line was syncing at a slightly higher speed than it has been since the installation last March (2013). My line since installation was syncing at 10012kbps (down) and 1020 (up)... Now it is syncing at 10230kbps (down) and 1020 (up), and the speeds are all over the place and line is unstable. I have requested that Afrihost re-open the fault with Telkom, and I have re-opened my own fault logged with them, too. The response I have so far, is that Telkom is aware of the problem and is tending to it.... WTF? When? How Long?

So, basically, I am paying for 2 services that are not as advertised... as for my 10MB Uncapped Business account, it was running perfectly since I moved over from MWEB in November/December... so why is it now worse than a 4MB MWEB account????

Today I downgraded my Dad's 10MB Uncapped account to a 4MB Business so that I could salvage the month for him - taking a R100-00 no refund KNOCK in the process - only to find that this new account isn't even 3MB, never mind the 4MB we are paying for.

Now you tell me how I am supposed to react? :(

I'm seeing less throughput and a drop in overall speed on downloads today, but the rest of the internet seems to be running fine.

Been saying it for over a week... there is not enough IPC, and instead of fixing the problem, AH is working on their new website, or releasing new specials, or giving away free bandwidth..... W T F ????

....must be nice to have people paying you, so you can do all these nice upgrades, and NOT have to do anything in return for it..... INNIT?????? :p

Another point....

I think it's quite criminal that you are not prioritising the Business Uncapped clients, considering that we havent really gotten any price reductions (at least not the higher line speeds). In fact, 10MB Uncapped users havent seen much of anything lately, with both normal and business lines being RATE LIMITED... YES, I said it, THROTTLED. That is what your network management has amount to, throttling. When a user/client cannot get the full speed on what he/she pays for, and the speed is reduced for most (if not all) of the day, THIS IS WHAT IS CALLED THROTTLING.

Just another example of how companies nowadays focus way to much on future business and clients, instead of ensuring that the existing clients are happy, and getting the service they are paying for.

Does anyone know if Afrihost Business Uncapped 4Mb provides the same type of service as Open Web Gold Uncapped 4Mb?!?

I am currently an Afrihost 4Mb Uncapped subscriber, but since everything is pretty much going to hell, I either need to change to Afrihost Business Uncapped or move to OpenWeb Gold Uncapped.

Currently, Business Uncapped 4MB seems to be maxing out at 320kB/s for me, and this is a new account / downgrade from 10MB Uncapped.

@cortexenslaver - I think a lot of your issues may be unrelated to AH, to be honest. Today, there seems to be something up in the WC as I posted earlier, as speeds have been up and down. But up till this point, it's been full line speed 24/7.

@AfriGuy/Man - is there a problem in the WC today? Things are still really slow.

You mean shared accounts or accounts that doesn't work during day time?

The problem is the link between Telkom and Afrihost. When I tested other ISP accounts, they ALL performed better than the AH accounts. In fact, the AH Business Uncapped performed the worst of all of them.... both the 10MB and 4MB. One of the Afrihost "specialists" logged a call with Telkom to change the physical port, and Telkom responded that they were aware of the problem and are tending to it. Now, if you look at the timeouts on the trace routes all over this thread, it is evident that the problem is not just with Telkom, but also with the MTN Network (hop between Telkom and AH). This being said, the issues ARE related to AH.... or is my logic flawed?

Additionally Afriguy, there are a couple of websites that I seem to be having some problems with two relate to the department that I work with (Computer Science at UWC) and the departmental websites are unavailable via Afrihost http://www.cs.uwc.ac.za and http://www.csunx.ac.za/ both are immediately available via Mweb or on a cellular network. The other is a server that I play Minecraft on, I used to get relatively low latency for a site hosted in the US (250-80ms) but lately it has bumped to 380ms on a good day. The server url is mc.shadowraze.net

If there is anything further I can do for you please let me know. As I am sure you can understand this situation is becoming frustrating rather quickly.

Cheers!

@8-BALL

I have had the same experience as you in the last 2 weeks... with virtually identical results, off the same ISP accounts.
My tickets have been open since the beginning of the month :(

Tomorrow I'm off to hellopeter and social media if they haven't bothered to respond. Beyond pathetic.

I don't know whether I can go ahead and get another account at another ISP, because I have no clue if I'm going to be refunded.

Sadly... it seems that Afriman is the man and when he is not around there is no man.
