"Best effort service"? So it's perfectly alright for them to take the full amount of money that's paid and it's fine for me to get less than half of the service 'promised'? It baffles me how this is just accepted and theres nothing I can do about it. Why is it ok to just rob people of their money blindly and we must just accept it because 'there's nothing they can do' for me?

I'm just preparing you for what Telkom may say - in these cases it's difficult for us because they have a lot of terms when it comes to this. They don't credit us though, they do that directly with you. It can't hurt to log a dispute but there's no guaranteed outcome :(

Well - weeks later - I noticed a refund to my credit card, and in my spam folder saying they'd "refund" the double to my bank account... apparently that was just BS.

I wasn't expecting double back - but find it annoying that they'd string me along for ages saying they can't process a "double" back refund to my credit card, therefore I must send my bank details - which I do, and then no response for days, then I see I have message saying, they refunded my credit card, and will do the bank account separately.

Basically, using random excuses for their delays.

Sorry about the confusion, we definitely are able to process refunds without having to EFT/ need your banking details.

Like I said before degrade non business accounts more so that business's can function.

I don't think that would reclaim enough bandwidth to make the impact we'd need - remember that capped and business use as much P2P traffic as Uncapped - if not more.

Also, we wouldn't want to destroy the trust between our clients and ourselves. A technical difficulty can be explained. But outright lying or changing the goal posts mid-stream will be much worse :(

Stop p2p on all accounts is that I am saying.

Well, I can definitely tell you that my 10MB Business Uncapped is being shaped on torrents all day till 21:00... after this, the speeds are full until 08:00. I have tested an WA 40GB account at the same time of day, and it is at full speed all the time.

So much for the claim that AH Business is guaranteed to be unshaped at all times - IT'S NOT!

There is definitely no shaping - I'm not sure how you want to prove this. You are essentially saying the we purposefully limit throughput on certain protocols on Business while publicly saying that we don't - this is not the case.

Slow speeds don't necessarily equal shaping, so I think it's a big leap to make here :(

And like I said to the "Consultant" what about people who do not read mybroadband, they would never know what is going on.

@Afriman, I used to love afrihost, because of the transparency they used to show. But now I am actually thinking you grew too fast and can be seen as Mweb V2.0

Slow speeds might be seen as throttling / shaping IMHO

OH NO YOU DONT! There is NO 'let's see what happens'

You either HAVE or you DONT HAVE your capacity on the 10th. It's as simple as that. I've HAD IT with this *****.... And I *demand* refunds too

As per Gregs comment on an article we published earlier, I'm confident the capacity should be added by/ before the 10th April.

It's the 3rd today, so we have to endure another 7 days of hip chat disconnecting when uploading a database backup, not being able to Skype when pushing to github?

What do we gain out of this? Please tell me, and what is Afrihost changing to prevent this in the future?

I currently have an account that can only do one thing at a time, something like those just surf accounts Axxess had back in the day.

While this is frustrating for everyone now, I truly believe that we've learnt a lot from this.
I'm confident our team have measures in place going forward. There's always room to improve, and I think we can only get better from here.

So you have learned a lot? At your clients expense yes! Please tell me about the measures so that I can decided if you are worthy of having me as a client.

What gets me is that you are just saying we have capacity issues, in no way shape or form are you trying to solve my problems nor anyone else's.

I'm not in a position to say I'm afraid.
Again, this wasn't an intention way to "get as much money from our clients" - you need to remember that this capacity was ordered last year and we've done everything we possibly can to have it installed.

Why are you here then, if you cannot say anything?!? unproductive aint it, might be put to better use in the call centre where the phones never get answered.

Stop signing up new clients!!! until you get capacity.

And yes somehow I still have sympathy for you, because you have to deal with these queries :)

I think a lot of what you're bringing up has been addressed before hand.
Shaping other clients, P2P or not signing up new clients will not have an affect on this.

I know you're frustrated, I'm afraid we'll have to wait things out until the new capacity arrives.
