I also just got hit with the "iO8 is the problem" reply to my log:

1) Log a support ticket on the 12th of Sept about slow speeds, timeouts, problems with streaming
2) Asked a couple of times by support to supply tracert and ping screendumps which was done.
3) iO8 gets released 5 days after my problem starts
4) Get the following reply from support:

5) No internet joy!

So a problem that started long before iO8 also gets blamed on it.
Nice way of treating your business users, total lack of transparency and support.
I'm stuck with 280p and maybe 480p for a few seconds in Netflix atm.

I got that generic response, too. Then replied to them... waited the whole of yesterday, and at 22:59 last night got this "gem":

Good evening :)

We trust you are well,

Thank you for your email, We do sincerely apologies for the inconvenience,We do understand your side of the issue at hand, unfortunately we can not pin point where the issue might be as we are currently experiencing high traffic demands hence we believe that you fall under that pool as an business accounts are not shaped.

Now I ask you, has this even remotely resolved my initial query?
No point in posting the speed test from the "test" account given above now, as all my other accounts work fine now (till 08:00).
I will wait till it all goes t**s up, and then post the results from all 4 AH accounts.

....nice try AH.... waiting till late evening to get me to do more tests! I should not have to sit in front of my PC 24/7 to do your jobs for you - I have a BUSINESS to run, a family to support and spend time with. I also need my rest :p

Local speed test show correct speeds, International showing half the proper speed.

Speed test to Cape Town server is normal, but international is currently restricted to 2Mb speeds for me (10Mb Business Uncapped). I know from experience that this will get much worse as the day progresses. It will now take me half the day, maybe longer to get 2 tv shows (without being able to do anything else at the same time).... E I S H Boetie.... that's haaaaaash! :(

Well if it continues like this they will loose plenty clients from the business uncapped side for sure.
I was extremely happy with the speeds but if it carries on like this... bye bye AH

Good morning....

Today, like yesterday, we all start with full speed again.
Wait until just after 08:00... the speeds will get progressively worse, until, once again, we will be back to 10% of our line speed.

I have said this before, and I'll say it again... AH is using the same shaping protocol / dynamic shaper they use on the Home Uncapped - now across ALL their accounts. How else do you explain the crappy speeds from exactly 08:00 till 02:00 in the morning? This is confirmed by all the posts and tests in this thread, and the other AH threads (Capped / Home Uncapped).

WAKE UP! It's going to be a "fightingly" frustrating day, and an even worse weekend on the throughput side :(

This is phase 2 of the AH/MTN MASTER PLAN:

Get all users off Business Uncapped and onto capped ;)
Just like Phase 1 was to get users off Home Uncapped and onto capped 3 months ago

EDIT: Phase 3 will be to slowly shape all offerings "dynamically" while they continue to over-sell.

When 8:00 hit, speed dropped off a cliff. 10mbit business uncapped.

No shaping/ throttling or anything else happens on our Business accounts - I promise :)

I for one, will not switch to a business capped account, I will move onto a different ISP should things go this route...

International after 8:00. Just before 8 was running full speed (10mbit business uncapped)

so much for AH reps claiming, ONCE AGAIN, that they don't shape Business or Capped accounts.
H A ! Rubbish... proof is in the stats

very simple test:
A: normal connection VS
B: vpn connection

I've done this before when there was claims of no shaping and the iOS downloads was ****... amazingly when running it through a vpn I got max line speeds.

No shaping ;)

I think they've switched from shaping to throttling. Everything is slow: http, ftp, streaming, VPN...

Morning all

I know that we had a pretty dismal day yesterday and many of you are pretty upset. I truly understand and I sincerely apologise for the poor experience that many of you have had.

From what we can see yesterday, the Apple update was using up to 20/30% of network resources (depending on the region) and this was consistent from 7pm on Wednesday evening, right through the day. It's still early in the day, but we're hopeful that the demand for the update will have decreased today. We'll continue to monitor and make more changes where we can to optimise performance throughout the day, if we see contention presenting itself on any of the regional networks.

Again, my sincere apologies for the experience of yesterday. Let's hope today will be a better experience, but I promise we're also doing whatever we can on our side as well and being as proactive as possible.

Speeds down to 2m on my 10m account. Can we expect credit for every day this continues?
