Afrihost Capped ADSL Feedback (MTN) - New beginning

Online gaming is popular when people are there to play it. Inevitably, this is from 7 in the evening and on weekends. At present any gaming online is impossible unless you wait 'till after 11-12 at night when there is nobody left online. It surprises me that your NOCs are not seeing this themselves, since gaming is popular with techies.

I recommend that you place notices on your website warning customers about this.

Also it would be grossly irresponsible to add more people to a network that is highly contended.

We have a notice around poor performance on the network, that'll cover everything - and we'll be updating it when relevant feedback is available.

These improvements cannot come soon enough. Been like this since Friday. Gaming for me, was and still is, a big no no over the weekend.

I fully agree, we're working to have these implemented ASAP.

@Afriman

Still experiencing slow throughput from the US.
1. 7.4mbps from Towerstream (NY) - http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4450821968
2. 7.9mbps from Optimum Online (NY) - http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4450826909

UK traffic.
3. 11.2mbps from Vodafone UK - http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4450852326

Local traffic
4. 17.7mbps from Vodacom - http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4450855401
5. 16.6mbps from SAIX CPT - Download Speed: 16597 kbps; Upload Speed: 1555 kbps; Latency: 13 ms

Not experiencing packet loss.
Latency is normal.
Local speeds are okay. [When things are running smoothly local is 19mbps and intl around 18mbps]

I'm sure once we see see the improvements pushed live we'll see this normalise.

As you have results for MTN and IS to London I thought you may like Telkom too:

Speed is not bad but latency is very high, appears to be a problem for all ISP's on International at the moment.

I think the sweetspot for international latency to London should be around 180ms to 200ms. Unfortunately distance has as much of an impact on latency as the quality of bandwidth infrastructure.

We've got some improvements coming that should see this sorted out :)

The way I read a lot of people's contributions on here is that you should start providing some rough dates to show some commitment from your side. Just keeping on promising is only going to cut it for a while.

At the moment there are a number of factors in play for our Network Upgrades, and once we start getting the important components of the upgrades in place, we should have a much better idea of the time frame.

We're pushing hard to get the upgrades completed as quickly as possible, but we also want to make sure that once the upgrades are in place that the network is stable and runs exactly to our expectations.

Well gaming still sucks. The latency is lowered but I'm still timing out and it stutters like there's throttling.

Definitely no throttling in affect, we're squeezing the network hard on our side to make sure real-time traffic is running decently.

Well hope the improvements going to be implemented soon! Struggle to log in Smite and LAG spikes in international gaming.

Latency on local seems fine, but little bit to low speeds.

I expect you will probably need to wait too much longer before things get better!

We should start to get a better idea of the timeline in the coming days.

Well they have updated the status page which is a show of Commitment, a large one in fact, considering that they have not updated it in months. The longer it is up there the worse it is for team moral so you can be sure that everyone is out to fix it now, with Management breathing down their necks too. Bonuses will count on it...

Well since Management is with us in the Trenches with this endeavour, I can assure it is indeed our top priority!

I've never heard anything about receiving bonuses though... Maybe something I should follow-up on... :P

All my torrents are dead with plenty of seeders ect.(meets all the criteria for a healthy torrent download)
