Does anybody use their Afrihost capped account with their Playstation 4 via PPPOE?
If so what settings do you use to get it to work?

It used to work for me at the beginning of the year but for the past four or so months I keep getting "Failed to obtain IP Address".

I'm not sure if I understand here. Are you connecting to your WiFi network to get online or are you connecting directly to the router and running passthrough to your Afrihost account?

Strange, wonder why you are only synching at 6Mbps. Your upload should be limited to 512kbps if you actually dropped your synch profile, so if you're on the 10Mbps profile but synching at 6Mbps you might be seeing unstable performance on the line :(

Hi again AfriMan

There appears to be a line fault according to AH support and a call has again been logged with Telkom.
The weird thing is my upload speed is always faster than my reported line sync.
These are my line stats from the "Test My Line" tool in CZ... which has magically started working again.

Code:
Maximum Sync Rate
Maximum speed at which the DSLAM and your modem will communicate.

Current Downstream Sync
    5120kbps
The current download speed established between the DSLAM and your modem.

SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio)
    13.0dB
Signal-to-Noise Ratio on the line. A value below 6dB can cause problems.

Attenuation
    22.6dB
The amount of resistance on the line. A value below 55dB is good.

It is just very frustrating... was flying at around 8Mbps, now it is a random daily sync at between 3Mbps to 5Mbs... usually sitting at just over 4Mbps with speeds around 2.5Mbps to just over 4Mbps (on a good day), nothing faster. I would say an average sync of just under 4Mbps with speeds hovering at 3.6Mbps.

So now it is the wait for Telkom game.

Remember the ClientZone can take sometime to pick up the correct sync after a reboot/ line drop. Best to check your router sync directly for a more realtime result :)
I'm sure between Telkom and us we'll have something sorted out here.

If there hasn't been any action on the fault by Wednesday drop me a line and I'll have it escalated for you.

My PS4 is connected to my router via a network cable. My Router has my Telkom Uncapped account details on it, that's why I create PPPOE connection on my PS4 using my Afrihost capped account details.

Late Last night I did eventually make a connection and was able to play online, the problem is for the last few months it's been a coin flip on whether or not it connects, 8 times out of 10 I get "Failed to obtain IP Address".

Getting desired speeds on Speed Test, but browsing is a bad.. getting timeouts often. Even to myBB.

Switched to Telkom ISP now and way better.

Very odd, maybe there's something the PS4 does when requesting an auth.
Drop me a PM with some times you've tried connecting and you've seen the error - I can skim through the authentication sessions on your account.

My account is pretty crappy tonight, getting 250Kbps on 10mb..

Shouldn't be any reason why the account is slow :(
Let's grab some results from the account during the day and we can see if anything stands out.

Could you run a few pings and traceroutes? Sounds like there's some packet loss here :(

Cannot access anything on WebAfrica's network while using AH Capped, or Business.

My line and a client's is on AH, but his email is on WA, and inaccessible.... all works fine on ANY other account (ie. NON- MTN).

We're in contact with the Web Africa team to see what the cause is here.
